United Latest

Lucas Radebe, Wayne Rooney and James Milner
Striker Wayne Rooney has been deservedly voted as PFA Player Of The Year for 2010. Rooney may miss the rest of The Reds season, but he has scored 34 goals in 42 appearances and was hot favourite for the prize – with Aston Villa’s James Milner claiming Young Player Of The Year, whilst Leeds legend Lucas Radebe earned the Merit award…

Rooney bagged the gong for United’s forth consecutive time, with Ryan Giggs and Cristiano Ronaldo (x2) receiving the prestigious prize in recent years. Roo fought-off challenges from former Red, turned Blue Carlos Tevez, Gunners skipper Cesc Fabregas and Chelski diver, Didier Drogba.

“It’s a great feeling to win the Player of the Year award because it’s voted for by the players, i
t’s something I’m really proud of and it’s a great honour.” said the 24-year-old England star. “I remember coming here in 2005 and 2006 to win the Young Player of the Year. I saw the players winning the main one and it’s something I’ve aimed for since.”

But with all true Reds, Wazza saved his praise for the gaffer ! – “Sir Alex is a great manager who has really brought me on as a player since I joined United,” he said. “His hunger passes through to the players. It’s great to see that he’s pushing 70 and hasn’t changed a bit. I’m sure he’ll be here for a long time yet !”
