United Latest | Manchester United News
Sir Alex Ferguson and Nemanja Vidic
Manchester United are set to make Nemanja Vidic the third highest paid player at the club after the defender has been constantly linked with a move to Real Madrid. The 28-year-old will receive a bumper pay package worth £90,000, falling behind Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand…

The Reds this week were again named as The World’s Most Valuable Sports Team, with a value of £1.2 Billion. Forbes placed United at the top of the list, after sponsorship deals worth over £200 Million were struck over the last half-year with the likes of AON, Nike and Thomas Cook.

The Glazer Family still make more operating income than any other team, more profits than any other team, and – of course – more debt than any other team – at £725 Million. Dallas Cowboys NFL, New York Yankees MLB, Washington Redskins NFL, New England Patriots NFL, Real Madrid CF, New York Giants NFL, Arsenal FC, New York Jets NFL and Houston Texans NFL complete the top ten most valuable sporting teams.

So, how do our top ten highest earners compare to the World’s top ten ?…

NOTE: Lionel Messy earns nearly £700,000 per week (£35 mil per year), however – that is due to inconsistent bonuses, endorsements, advertising, event appearances, expenses and much more. His Barcelona pay per week is much less…

But still high !

Yaya Toure the second most valuable player in the world? PMSL

Berbatov is on a scandalous amount, relatively speaking. I’m sure Ryan and Gary would play for free (not that I want to give the Glazers any ideas…)

Rooney figure is not accurate – not yet at least.

Fri, 23 Jul 2010 1:05:06 am

No, I agree, not at the moment. But counting next season / next year, he will receive about £140,000 per week. £7,280,000 per year average wages, £7.3 give or take…

Fri, 23 Jul 2010 1:30:15 am

Cannot believe when I heard Yaya toure got 225,000 per week at city. . unbelievable

Fri, 23 Jul 2010 3:17:56 am

What’s worse is GARY NEVILLE is getting 3.7? It’s time to let him go..

Fri, 23 Jul 2010 5:55:44 am

Intersting comparison. On a side note, in the 2009/2010 season, Man Utd and Arsenal were the best premier league in terms of wage to expenditure ratio. 44% and 48% respectively. United’s will go up a bit this year, but you compare to Man City who are spending a whopping a 90% of their total expenditure on staff+player salary and it puts things into perspective.

Also, Vidic’s salary is what he would earn on the new contract. Currently he earns 3.7m a year – just like Gary Neville. A travesty.

Most of the guys who want money choose a club other than united…If a players’ dream is to become a complete footballer and enjoy what he does, he should opt for united..when you compare the list, u can find that most of the top 10 in united are players who have been consistently performing at top level…benzema is lucky money maker as he is warming the bench for a whooping 7.4…united play as a team, others dont..

i’d love to see ozil to sign for us but really think fergie wont sign him, sorry for all the fuss

Sat, 24 Jul 2010 1:11:07 am

No need to apologise, Donald Duck. We’d all like to sign Ozil but there’s no need for Darren to change the subject of every discussion to Ozil. It’s ridiculous.

People were happily commenting on the topic of players’ earnings at United and rival clubs then he shows up and diverts the topic to Ozil again. It’s annoying.

Sat, 24 Jul 2010 10:44:11 am

Alright I’ll stick to the Ozil threads…sorry guys
