United To Play Barcelona In US 26/12/2010
![]() Manchester United are understood to have agreed a deal with sporting event organisers in the United States, which would see the world’s most popular club take on their closest rivals – Barcelona. The Red Devils are also considering offers from Ireland, China, South Korea, Indonesia and Malaysia… United are due to announce their plans for summer 2011 within the next few months, with a stop in America already scheduled into their calendar. Barcelona will form, at the least, one of The Red’s opponents for the visit, with more teams possibly playing United over the same period. Sir Alex’s men travelled to Canada, the United States and Mexico over the summer, playing five teams altogether. They faced a sixth team in The Republic Of Ireland afterwards. United’s 2010 Tour Of America was a huge commercial success, and the club’s sponsors and affiliates from The States are already keen to bring The Red Devils back to the continent. The world’s biggest club hammered Barca by 3-1 in America back in 2003, with a repeat of the losing 2009 Champions League final now expected to become a reality next summer. Sports organisers wish to host what would be a major event both within America and worldwide at the 91,000-seater FedEx Field in Maryland, Washington DC. The club’s chief executive David Gill and his colleagues have also received a major offer from The Football Association Of Ireland (FAI) to feature in a tournament at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, United-Latest.Com can reveal. The new Irish stadium also played host to United during the summer, where 50,000 fans travelled to see the game, which kicked-off during rush-hour on Wednesday ! United have also been contacted by sports enthusiasts from the Far East, with offers from China, South Korea, Indonesia and Malaysia to consider. The Reds have possibilities of tours in America, Ireland and the Far East – the latter being where the club spent a few weeks in 2009. Further details will be announced in the near future.
