United Confirm Lindegaard Signature 27/11/2010
CONFIRMED TRANSFER: Manchester United have this morning confirmed that Aalesund FK goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard is to join Old Trafford. He will start training in December, and will be eligable to play in January. The 26-year-old signs on a 3½ deal, said to be worth £3.5 Million… Lindegaard has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United, and on Saturday that was confirmed by the club’s official website (manutd.com). Sir Alex Ferguson had previously stated that he hoped the 6ft 4in Dane would sign within the next few weeks. True to his word, Lindegaard passed a medical during the week and agreed personal terms with Sir Alex and CEO David Gill after Aalesund and United had come to an arrangement two weeks ago. The 26-year-old will train with The Reds’ first team squad next month, and will join on a 3½ contract in January – keeping him at United until 2014 – worth £3.5 Million to Norway side Aalesund. Anders Lindegaard arrives at CarringtonSpeaking to aafk.no, Lindegaard said: “Joining Manchester United is a dream come true for me. The club is such an institution in Denmark, it’s an honour to come here. I’m looking forward to playing and training alongside some of the great players in football today. I can’t wait to be part of this team and to make my contribution to keeping the team at the top of the game.” “Anders is one of the brightest young keepers in the game.” Sir Alex told MUTV. “The challenge at Manchester United is always to look to the future and in Anders, we have signed a goalkeeper of great presence and even more promise. Having the time to train with him before he is registered will be an important period for him – almost like a pre-season to get him integrated with the other players.” “We’ve got to prepare for the day when Edwin finally bows out. I think that’s the main reason (that Lindegaard signed), to protect us for the future.” the boss explained.
