United Draw Liverpool In FA Cup 28/11/2010
Manchester United will host Liverpool in The FA Cup 3rd Round on either the 8th or 9th (Saturday/Sunday) of January 2011. The legendary rivals will battle at Old Trafford with the opportunity to make it into the 4th Round. Meanwhile, FC United Of Manchester could face Portsmouth… The Red Devils face under-par Liverpool for the 16th time in The FA Cup, with the last meeting between the two ending 2-1 in favour of United at The Theatre Of Dreams. Sir Alex Ferguson has secured 5 of The Reds’ record 11 FA Cup titles, but it has been 6 years since the boss lead his side to triumph in the competition. Instead, Sir Alex has set his sights on the Carling League Cup – winning all 4 of United’s trophies since he took over in 1986. However, Liverpool hold the record of 7 League Cups – with the gaffer trying in recent years to chop that lead down. United are now on course for a hat-trick of Carling Cups. Fergie is also attempting to move ahead on top-flight titles with Liverpool, as both clubs are currently on a record 18 titles. Although, with United top of the Premier League and Liverpool 12 points off the race in 10th – there isn’t much of a challenge from the Scousers. The boss is also gaining on Roy Hodgson’s side in the Champions League – with the Merseysiders’ on 5 titles, United on 3 – and looking for their 4th. In the 3rd Round, United host Liverpool on either the 8th or 9th (Saturday/Sunday) of January 2011 at Old Trafford, while FC United Of Manchester will play Portsmouth if they are to be victorious against Brighton & Hove Albion in their FA Cup 2nd Round replay.
