United Latest

Rooney, Evra, Valencia and Fletcher make it a fourmidable United-dominated XI !

Wayne Rooney was amongst four United players in this years PFA Premier League Team Of The Year. Patrice Evra, Antonio Valencia and Darren Fletcher were all deservedly pencilled-in, as United once again dominated the XI.
  • PFA Premier League Team Of The Year: Joe Hart (Birmingham), Branislav Ivanovic (Chelsea), Richard Dunne (Aston Villa), Thomas Vermaelen (Arsenal), Patrice Evra (Manchester United), Antonio Valencia (Manchester United), Darren Fletcher (Manchester United), James Milner (Aston Villa), Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal), Wayne Rooney (Manchester United), Didier Drogba (Chelsea).
Patrice Evra again worked wonders this season, far outplaying Ashley Cole in both defence and attack. The speedy Frenchman has missed just a few games for The Reds this season, making him the most capped player with 49 appearances, and a few more to come !

Antonio Valencia was one of Sir Alex’s best buys in recent years, the Ecuadorian winger has vastly improved after joining from Wigan during the summer – between himself and Luis Nani, they have certainly filled the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo. Valencia has torn the biggest of teams to sherds this season, and gets back whenever he can…

Darren Fletcher looked ‘out of place’ at one of the World’s largest club’s, according to many pundits a few seasons ago. But the Scot has proved any doubters wrong, displaying fantastic controlling abilities with the ball, and perfect tackles (ehem, Arsene Wenger !). Fletch is on his way to becoming the World’s top centre mid, and that’s no joke !

Well what can you say – Wayne Rooney has just been outstanding this season, and without his recent injury problems, he was a strong contender for World Player Of The Year – no doubt he will be second. With 34 goals in 42 games and being the League’s top-scorer with 25, he has done fantastically to patch-up any goal droughts left by Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez – in fact The Reds have scored more goals this season, in as many games compared to last… that speaks for itself !
