Sir Alex To Stay On For At Least 4 Years ! 03/10/2011
![]() Sir Alex Ferguson believes he can manage Manchester United for at least 4 more years, approaching his 25th anniversary in charge of the biggest club in the world. The soon-to-be 70-year-old is still as hungry for silverware as ever – as shown last season – and has hinted that he knows who his successor is… Sir Alex Ferguson took over from Ron Atkinson in 1986, and has never since looked back. The Scottish gaffer has won 37 major trophies at the helm of The Red Devils in his almost 25 year reign. All at United would love to see ‘Fergie’ continue at the club for another 25 years, but the boss admits he owes his family attention after he retires. This November will mark 2 and a half decades of glory-filled seasons at Old Trafford – The Theatre Of Dreams. “I’ve got three or four years left, and I feel good. But when I do leave, I will leave in place a strong young team that will continue to succeed for my successor.” Sir Alex explained. “It’s all about team spirit. In a match, I only need eight of my players to be on top form. If the other three aren’t up to it, it’s not serious. The other eight do the work for them. There has only been six matches where I’ve had all 11 players perform at their very best. It’s like swallows…” “…They always fly together in a group, in a V formation, and those at the front do the majority of the work. And they alternate regularly. If one swallow flies out of formation, two others go to get him and bring him back into the group. It’s the same in my teams – sacrifice, friendship, and the giving of oneself to the team.” Fergie can attempt to tell us his philosophy in many unusual ways (see cow comparison), but there’s no doubt he is the best in the world. ‘Like’ United Latest On Facebook CommentsLeave a Reply |
