Roo to return v's Stoke ?
Wayne Rooney has said he hopes to return for The Reds’ final game of the season, against Stoke City at Old Trafford in two weeks time. The striker was speaking after he claimed the PFA Player Of The Year award for 2010. Wazza injured his groin last week, and was expected to be out for the rest of the season – but either way he’ll be back for the World Cup !

Rooney picked-up a groin injury last Thursday in a ‘simple’ passing exercise, which quickly sparked fears about his fitness in time for the World Cup in South Africa. But the 34-goal striker insists he will be fine for the summer, and possibly even for the last game of the season !

“The groin will be fine for the World Cup, there are no worries about that,” he said assuringly. “I’m hoping to play for United in the last game of the season. (v Stoke City)”

Wazza missed the 3-1 win against Tottenham over the weekend, and is set to sit-out United’s trip to Sunderland this Sunday, but Fabio Capello and neutral England fans will be boosted by the fact that he will be fit in time for early June.

Meanwhile, Roo, who bagged the PFA Player Of The Year gong, admitted he voted for Didier Drogba and Cesc Fabregas for the PFA award – while he also said Lionel Messi was the World’s best player, despite Rooney being hot favourite to be the World Cups top-goalscorer, according to World Cup betting odds !
