Anders Lindegaard
Anders Lindegaard said his Manchester United debut was one of the best days of his life. The 26-year-old Danish keeper made his first start for United on Saturday evening, as The Reds beat Southampton 2-1 away from home in The FA Cup. Lindegaard means business, stating he’s not at the club ‘to pick his nose’…

Lindegaard was told on Friday morning that he would be between the posts for the first time on Saturday, following his £3.5 Million transfer from Norwegian side Aalesund in late November. The 6ft 4in net minder kept a clean sheet on his Reserve team debut on the 17th of January, as United’s youngsters fired 8 goals past Bury. This time round, it wasn’t as easy for The Reds – conceding just before half time at St. Mary’s.

Richard Chaplow fired past Lindegaard after latching onto a Rickie Lambert pass. However, Anders wasn’t the slightest bit to blame for the goal, with United’s defenders switching off in the build-up to Southampton’s lead. Lindegaard ensured his side were kept in the game, and that paid dividends as Michael Owen and Chicharito scored late goals to win the game for Sir Alex Ferguson’s Red Army.

“It was one of the most enjoyable days of my life so far,”
Anders told United’s in-house TV Channel, MUTV. “When you’ve dreamed of representing a club since you were four years old and finally the dream comes true, obviously it’s a very big thing. I enjoyed it a lot. It was a good debut…”
Anders Lindegaard gets off to a flying start, making his much anticipated debut…

“The fans have taken very good care of me, both at Old Trafford and here today. I owe them a big thanks for supporting me. The game was a lot like the game at Blackpool. We didn’t play well in the first half and didn’t create any chances. Southampton went in 1-0 up at half-time but we managed to turn the game around. It’s nice to win.” Lindegaard added.

“Everybody wants to play at this club and I’m no different. I dream of playing. I’m not here just to sit and pick my nose… I’m here to play !”

……… Maybe a cheeky bid for Torres or Reinna wouldn’t go amiss to see if the rats are deserting a sinking ship

Thought he could have done better for their goal! He wasnt positioned properly as they approached the 18 yard box and he should have been closer to the post for the goal!

I kind of agree with LackyMUFC on the goal. Lindegårds positioning was sligthly off. But even if he had stood where he is supposed to he would still have struggled to save that shot. So I wount say that he was at fault for the goal.

But I’m ipressed with his progress since joing United. Compared to his days at my hometown club of Aalesund he was much calmer with the ball at his feet. Looks like he’s taken a lesson in footwork from the master (VDS)

He’s not gonna be first choice……. just yet. That Ajax and Dutch national keeper is touted all over the press as a summer target. Could be his agent putting the story out to get improved contact but might be true

Okay guys, seriously. Why is there always a need to badmouth Gibson especially when the article above has nothing to do him! Whether you like it or not he wears the United shirt and he should be supported and not constantly badmouthed.

Impressive debut for sure – good kicking and distribution – hope Anders gets another chance in the next round. Always a bonus that he loves United too!
