Kiko Macheda Set For Loan Spell 29/12/2010
![]() United youngster Federico ‘Kiko’ Macheda is set to leave the club in January on a loan spell until the end of the season. His agent, Marcello Bonetto, has told Italian newspapers that Sir Alex Ferguson agreed with Kiko to send him on loan to gain first team experience… Macheda has scored just once this season for United in 10 games, but netted twice in Pre-Season. The 19-year-old Italy U-21 striker became a hero when he helped United to the Premier League title in 2008/2009, but has failed to make his way into a forward department that has seen Carlos Tevez, Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen battle for in recent times. Sir Alex has now agreed to let Macheda leave on-loan in January, Kiko’s representative Marcello Bonetto has told the media in Italy. “Federico could leave United, that is true, but only on loan. The club and Ferguson have absolute faith in Chicco. With the return of Michael Owen, confirmation of Wayne Rooney, plus fine form for Dimitar Berbatov and Javier Hernandez, the space for him in Manchester has been reduced.” “We talked it over and were given the all-clear by Ferguson to go on loan for six months in January to gain experience. If we do decide to leave Manchester, then Italy represent the most likely destination. Up until now we have not been contacted by anybody, but will only choose a club that can guarantee Federico consistent playing time. That’s the only reason for leaving Manchester.” Macheda is believed to be wanted by Serie A sides Juventus, Fiorentina, Parma and former club Lazio for the rest of the season.
