Fergie Targeting Blackpool’s Charlie Adam ? 31/03/2011
Sir Alex Ferguson has already confirmed that The Glazer Family will fund ‘two or three’ summer buys. There are an abundance of names linked with United every week, but one that seems more on the realistic side is that of Blackpool’s 25-year-old Scottish midfielder, Charlie Adam, who is a reputed Reds’ target. Thomas Rooney reports… Report By: Thomas Rooney, 6:55pm It is getting to the time of year when every single Premier League club is going to be linked with their summer transfer targets. Sky Sports blackberry nut Bryan Swanson is running out of things to talk about related to the January Transfer Window and it’s unlikely that a few Championship loans will feed his need to produce information that his ‘sources understand’. Being the biggest club in the world, Manchester United are bound to be at the centre of this with regards to the players that are going to be in the mix for Sir Alex Ferguson next season… Those studying free bets will note how the Red Devils boss has already mentioned that Tom Cleverley, Danny Welbeck, Mame Diouf and Federico ‘Kiko’ Macheda will return to Old Trafford from loan spells for the next campaign, so this will be like four new signings in one. However, Ferguson is also after Blackpool’s captain Charlie Adam according to reports, a move that could be triggered by speculation that Paul Scholes will not be signing a new contract. The United legend has had an extended deal on the table since the turn of the year, but hasn’t signed anything yet and Ferguson has been around long enough to know that he will have to prepare for the worst when it comes to the midfielder’s future. So, step up the in demand Mr Adam who is also interesting the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool after a tremendous season for Ian Holloway’s Blackpool. Regardless of whether The Tangerines manage to secure Premier League status, Adam is certain to leave the club in the summer, with Old Trafford now a realistic destination for him. A midfielder that has proved to those looking to place a free bet that he can score and create goals in the top flight, Adam has had his value go through the roof in the last few months. Blackpool signed him for £500,000 in 2009, Liverpool had a £10 Million bid rejected for him in January and he is now valued at £14 Million by his club. Considering Ferguson’s recent comments that ‘corner-kicks alone are worth £10 Million’ after the Scotsman set-up both of Blackpool’s goals against Ferguson’s men in the 3-2 victory for United at the beginning of the year, it could well be money well spent. There is no way United are going to be held to ransom though and a bidding war with Tottenham and Liverpool is unlikely to sit well with Ferguson. For what it is worth, Adam is a very good player who will arguably excel the better the players around him. Whether he is seen as the best option for United at the price he would cost though, remains to be seen… CommentsRibbed 31/03/2011 7:52:43 pm Would be a nice to get this player Redboy 31/03/2011 9:27:03 pm He’s British, got skill, passion, workrate, loyalty ,footballing brain and a ronaldo type Drive to excel.that alone is worth 10 mill for any premier league player.hope we buy. Sean 123 Mufc 31/03/2011 10:05:41 pm i herd a deal is in place . and it was done on Deadline night Mark W. 31/03/2011 10:18:29 pm Hope it happens. He’s a top notch player who’d fit in well here. MU Fan Forever 31/03/2011 10:20:07 pm How old is he? Sean 123 Mufc 31/03/2011 10:29:21 pm AGE 25 Dubstep 31/03/2011 10:46:41 pm Good squad player kubam 01/04/2011 1:13:40 am I hope a bid for sneider is still on, remember..we are the biggest club in the world..no disrespect to adam, he should be our 3rd or 4th choice for summer signing. The biggest club should bid for the best player in the world. (Messi not icluded because he is from other planet) Arfaan11 01/04/2011 1:57:01 am I think Adam will make a gud sqd playa, with all due respect 2 Adam he is not the big star signing we r lookin 4,it will b a signing that is welcome though.we still need 2 bring in gr8 prospects such as pastore snjeider(proven world class) costa young or sanchez or even Hazard.it’s absolute essential we get 2 of em @ least Dex 01/04/2011 6:18:19 pm Thats the trouble, we dont need squad players John mac 02/04/2011 1:30:14 am Why the hell would we buy this joke ? Aaron 02/04/2011 5:42:09 am actually I think signing Charlie Adam would be a great move. Scholes is coming to the end of his great carrer at Old Trafford and even if he does sign for another year he will not play as much as we need him to. Adam has some great attributes, his passing and vision would be very welcome indeed. I also see Rodwell as a great signing but question is, will everton budge? I really hope so Rodwell will be a world class player. If we sign this two player I’ll be thrilled. It does seem likely that Edwin will hang up his boots next season and in my opinion Manuel Neuer should be strongly considered Ranks 02/04/2011 8:45:30 am What a lot of nonsense. The reason Liverpool DIDN’T sign him was because they only bid £6 million, not the £10 million that Blackpool valued him at. He is a good player but not worth the £14 million as reported. This guy couldn’t even make it at Rangers in a weak Scottish league, so let’s get it in perspective MU6096 03/04/2011 3:04:27 am I totally agreed with kubam… We are the biggest club in the world and we should be getting a world class player. Why is Gibson and carrick still around in the best club in the world..??? I do not understand… Comments are closed. | Loading
