Fears For Tom Cleverley After Bolton Injury 11/09/2011
Tom Cleverley’s season could come to a premature end in the worst-case scenario, after Kevin Davies made a reckless challenge on United’s young midfielder as Bolton Wanderers lost 5-0. Cleverley suffered a suspected broken foot after just 5 minutes, and Sir Alex Ferguson voiced his unhappiness after the match… Two goals from Javier Hernandez and a three from Wayne Rooney saw United continue their 100% start to the season at the local Reebok Stadium. Bolton were hapless in defence, conceding three goals in the first 25 minutes and a further two in the second half. David De Gea kept a clean sheet with some important stops, but the shine was taken off the display as news came through that Cleverley’s injury was worse than first feared. Just minutes into the fixture, Bolton forward Kevin Davies ripped into the back of Cleverley, taking down the young mid before he got anywhere near the ball. Referee Andre Marriner blew for the foul, but astonishingly failed to punish Davies. The offender then made an x-rated tackle on Patrice Evra, which saw him escape a plausible red card as the ref brandished only yellow. Michael Carrick replaced Cleverley after he limped off the field. In the second half, Tom reappeared on the bench with his left foot encased in a protective boot. Sir Alex told MUTV after the game that his medical team believe that the 22-year-old may have a broken and/or fractured left foot. Unless proven otherwise, Clev could miss the next few months. “Tom may have a broken bone in his foot,” said the gaffer. “It’s a bad one and it was a bad tackle.” Kevin Davies did not apologise after the game. Disgrace. ‘Like’ United Latest On Facebook Commentsfarhan 11/09/2011 2:26:59 am fuck you davies. no wonder u nvr get to play for england cuz ur utter rubbish! wish i could break ur whole body into pieces u scum! n now united fans have to thru the pain of last season again watchin carrick play and slow the tempo of the game. damn fuck! Borba 11/09/2011 3:06:31 am That’s bullshit kevin should be banded for 5 games. I hope Fletcher and Anderson could do what tom and Anderson did for 4 games and have good chemistry together. 11/09/2011 5:37:04 am Davies is an aggressive player,he deserved a red card but the refree do that he had repeat it against evra.Secondy he suppose to be handed a match ban by FA yet we have not hear anything from them.So may God help us. Hanz 11/09/2011 6:02:54 am No point bro, FA is against us pjch 11/09/2011 8:00:20 am Feel sorry for cleverly and hope he’s not out too long. Trouble is we are now left with the same midfield as last year until he returns. Maybe SAF should have bought a midfielder before the window shut to at least cover for what happened yesterday Aj…..Red Devil 11/09/2011 8:19:12 am Really sad for lad…we will miss him akkc 11/09/2011 8:21:52 am For last couple of years I have watched either ref ol linemen have not made proper calls too many times. Lee Cattermole, for instance, still continued to made a number of reckless tackles and got away with it. STUPID AND UNSPORTSMANLILE CONDUCT, indeed. 11/09/2011 8:23:13 am Andy 11/09/2011 9:27:50 am Davis should be punished for possibly ruining cleverlys league! He try’s to makes up for being old and shit by flying in like it’s a Sunday pub match! You can’t do this and so the FA should punish him!
