Edwin Van Der Sar In Kuwait ‘Testimonial’… 23/08/2011

Al Jandal (Kuwait), 10:45pm Manchester United legend, recently retired goalkeeper Edwin Van Der Sar has been recently spotted in the heart of the Middle East – Kuwait – to take part in an annual local tournament called ‘Al Roudan’. The indoor football tournament (Al Roudan) takes place one a year during the holy month of Ramadan and usually invites celebrity football players from all over the world to show their support to the tournament…. Van Der Sar was their second guest this season, just after retired Real Madrid player Roberto Carlos. He was the highlight of the day and added a spice to the tournament by taking many pictures with his fans and signing many autographs. He also played as goalkeeper during half time and had penalty shots by the audience, which all have been successfully saved by the legend. Edwin Van Der Sar Testimonial – The Kuwaiti Version Van Der Sar had a small press conference at his arrival to Kuwait and was welcomed by Mr. Khaled Al Roudan, the tournament’s organizer, who announced to the press that Van Der Sar was here to have a Kuwaiti version Testimonial. On the other hand, the Manchester United legend added this is his first visit to Kuwait and has accepted the invitation after last season host – Edgar Davids – encouraged him to do so. Future Plans Moreover, the Dutch goalkeeper mentioned to the press that he currently is taking sports management courses seeking management opportunities in the future. He also added that Sir Alex Ferguson had a great impact to his career and is in the process of building a team of young talents that would eventually take down FC Barcelona. Van Der Sar Talks About David De Gea Van Der Sar was asked by the press on his opinion of his new replacement, David De Gea, who recently has transferred to Old Trafford from Atletico Madrid. It seems that he has no doubts that De Gea is a perfect replacement since he’s a young talent and has been part of Spain’s U17 winning Euro side of 2007, and with the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Super Cup to his name with his previous club Atletico Madrid.
