Joint-top-goalscorer in the Premier League 2010/2011: Dimitar Berbatov…
Manchester United’s top goalscorer this season, Dimitar Berbatov, has been given the Barclays Premier League Golden Boot award for the 2010/2011 campaign. With The Red Devils ending the competition as Champions last weekend, the 30-year-old Bulgarian striker finished joint-top in the goalscoring charts with former United striker and current Manchester City captain Carlos Tevez, whose side only managed 3rd in the League.
Berba with the 20-goal award
Berbatov has been a revelation for The Reds this term, scoring 21 goals in 42 games, with 20 of those scores coming in 32 Premier League appearances. Berba has since lost his place on the usual Starting XI to Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez, who has netted 20 goals in 44 games in his first season in English football. Mexican superstar Chicha has a habit of hitting the back of the net on all stages, scoring 13 in 27 Premier League caps since August 2010.
Dimitar, who has a hat-trick of hat-tricks to his name – including equalling the Premier League record of the same goals scored in one game (5 goals against Blackburn Rovers) – says he has no intentions of leaving Old Trafford anytime soon, despite intense media speculation that Sir Alex Ferguson is set to ditch his classy Bulgarian forward. With Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez, Dimitar Berbatov certainly won’t be short of challengers !…
