Sir Alex watched from the comfort of his armchair on Sunday evening, as his son Darren Ferguson – Peterborough United manager – took centre stage at the npower League 1 play-off final at Old Trafford – between Peterborough and Huddersfield Town – to decipher who makes it through to The Football League Championship (along with Brighton & Hove Albion and Southampton). And ‘Little Fergie’ didn’t let the crowd down at The Theatre Of Dreams !…

Although the better team throughout the game, ‘The Posh’ wasted their chances, leaving it late to please their travelling supporters. Three goals from Tommy Rowe, Craig Mackail-Smith and Grant McCann in the last 12 minutes saw Peterborough win comfortably in the end, and lift the Promotion trophy in Manchester. With their new found success, Posh could see themselves, and Darren Fergie, in the Premier League in another couple of seasons.
Ferguson – a former Manchester United midfielder – was installed as Peterborough boss in 2007, before moving to Preston North End in 2010, and then back again to London Road Stadium earlier this year. At least Old Trafford had something to celebrate this weekend, with close to 50,000 fans packing into Britain’s largest club stadium late on Sunday…
