United and England talent Danny Welbeck has been injured while on International duty, suffering a muscle problem in training. The 20-year-old striker has been recalled to Carrington for treatment, as Three Lions manager Fabio Capello wasn’t prepared to take any risks on Welbeck against Sweden…
Danny Welbeck appeared in England’s 1-0 friendly win over Spain at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, replacing Darren Bent past the hour mark. The United forward impressed in the latter stages of the game, and it was no surprise for the man who has scored 5 goals in 12 fixtures for The Red Devils this season already. Daniel now has 3 England senior caps in his locker, following appearances and goals for the U-17, U-18, U-19 and U-21 squads.
The United Academy graduate scored 6 goals in 28 games on loan for Sunderland last season, having previously being sent out as a loanee to Preston North End, where he scored 2 goals in 8 matches. Now, a regular Reds first team starter, Welbeck has sustained a muscle injury whilst in training with England, before they play Sweden in another International friendly in London on Tuesday. Welbeck could return against Swansea City next Saturday.
