Rooney Ruled-Out Of Manchester Derby 29/10/2010
Sir Alex Ferguson has this morning announced that troubled striker Wayne Rooney will miss the Premier League clash with Manchester City in two weeks time, and faces an even longer lay-off than first suspected. Rooney is facing four weeks on the sidelines… Rooney has now missed the last three games for United, as he recovers from an ankle injury that he sustained on the same morning that Sir Alex told a news conference that he had failed to sign a new contract. In due course, the situation was settled – with Rooney signing a weekly £250,000 5-year contract extension. Currently, Wayne and wife Coleen are on holiday in Dubai – and have been for the last six days. The couple went through a rough patch after the World Cup, when revelations about the 25-year-old strikers’ private life were published in Sunday Tabloids. Their 11 month old son, Kai was left in Manchester, being cared for by relatives. Rooney was expected to return for the Manchester derby on the 10th of November at Eastlands, but it now appears as though his injury lay-off will be extended to four weeks. That means he will miss up to 8 games for United, including crunch ties with Tottenham Hotspur, Man City, Aston Villa and two Champions League ties away from home. “Wayne’s away at the moment (in Dubai), so there’s no recovery. He did his remedial work before he went away, but thereafter we’re happy that he’s resting. But I think it may be longer (than three weeks recovery).” said Sir Alex on Friday morning. In other news, Michael Owen is out for up to 5 weeks – suffering with a hamstring injury, Ryan Giggs will start training again on Monday, with Owen Hargreaves making ‘very good progress’ – but is unlikely to return within the next few weeks. CommentsPet Fri, 29 Oct 2010 11:17:10 am Wayne is the only striker we`ve got that I think suites to play as a lone striker, but I`ll guess he`ll goes for Berba then. Donnt think Wayne would be suited to start anyway in this game, coming straight back from injury. As well he should not just go straight back into the starting lineup, but maybe come in as a sub a couple of matches and deliver some performances which justifies a start. ahern Fri, 29 Oct 2010 4:20:41 pm when should of rested his ankle not going on hoildayis doing all kind of outdoor active there is nothing wrong with him there leaving the fans more time to forgive. fergie do oldest trick in the book. wayne will be back for the chelsea ganme conme on and get the winner and everything will be for gotten about our the arseanl ganme at honme Borba Fri, 29 Oct 2010 7:00:08 pm Something funny going on here.
