Boss Sets Berbatov 25-Goal Target 29/12/2010
![]() Dimitar Berbatov has been set a high goalscoring target by Sir Alex Ferguson. The Bulgarian has become a class act in recent games – with a current tally of 14 League goals, and the gaffer thinks Berba can notch 25 goals this season to help United in the Premier League title race… Berbatov has now scored 14 goals in 15 domestic matches for The Red Devils, thus helping the world’s biggest club to top spot in the Premier League heading into 2011. The 29-year-old’s best goalscoring record came at Bayer Leverkusen, where he managed 26 goals in the 2004/2005 season. His best Tottenham Hotspur total came between 2006 and 2008, where he scored 23 goals in both campaigns. The striker’s total tally this season is 15 goals, and Sir Alex Ferguson believes Berbatov can add 10 more to that figure – if not more… “His form has been terrific. If he can get us to 25 – and we need one more to get around that figure – then we will have a good chance.” Meanwhile, the same can’t be said for Wayne Rooney, who has scored just 2 goals for United since March. Both goals came from penalties, and so he hasn’t netted a goal from open play in 9 months. His form has only been mediocre in recent games, but he has done well in setting-up Berba.
