Oliveira Anderson made an injury comeback on Thursday night, as he came off the bench to fire Manchester United’s Reserve team to a well-deserved 3-1 win over Manchester City’s ‘Elite Development Squad’ at Moss Lane. Gabriel Obertan grabbed The Red’s opening goal, before Anderson won the game with a brace…

Anderson suffered a knee injury against Crawley Town in The FA Cup in February, keeping him out-of-action for the past two months. At first, it was though the 22-year-old would miss the rest of the season for United – but his return to Reserve action on Thursday night has put to bed any lingering doubts over his short-term future. Sir Alex Ferguson will have him available on both Saturday against Fulham, and on Tuesday against Chelsea.

United’s Reserves made Man City’s ‘Elite Development Squad’ look anything but ‘elite’, beating the young noisy neighbours in the Red side of Manchester – at Moss Lane – on front of nearly 1,000 onlookers. Gabby Obertan broke the deadlock on 29 minutes, before City pounced through Abdisalam Ibrahim just one minute later.

The game changed after Anderson’s half-time arrival, with the Brazilian attacking midfielder netting a quick double in the closing stages – both assists chalked-down to Obertan. He showed-off some epic skill, along with Bébé, as he showed why The Reds wrapped him up at Old Trafford until the summer of 2015 earlier this campaign.

If Anderson plays like that with the first team squad he would be an awsome midfielder.

Don’t agree Maliki that berba gives the ball away and isn’t physically strong. He holds the ball up better than most, the problem is down to attitude. I would like to keep him but don’t think he would be content with the bench.

Why is Nani not on the Player of the Year shortlist? Fucking scandal.

Nah Maliki, Berba this season has shown the quality player he is. He holds the ball up well, is putting himself about more and can bring others into play with his vision and skill, as for not scoring goals, he is the top goal scorer in the Premiership with 20 goals is he not? He knows now what it means to be a Manchester United player, the evidence of which is the good performances and goals this season, but he needs to be doing the business a little more consistently, though I’ve no complaints about him this season, which is a first for me.
