Manchester United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard
New goalkeeper signing Anders Lindegaard has said he has not moved to Old Trafford to warm the bench. The 26-year-old will complete his transfer from Aalesund to United in January in a 3½ year deal worth £3.5 Million to the Norway club. Ben Amos has said he will also challenge for no.1…

“I am not travelling to Manchester to sit on the bench and I feel that I am brought to the club to fight for a place in the starting XI. It’s obvious that this is a dream. I have followed them since I was a small boy and my father is a big fan. For Manchester United, it’s a long process to buy players and they have been tremendously careful. I feel they know me better than I do myself.” Lindegaard said on Monday.

The Denmark International tied-up contract talks on Saturday after Aalesund and The Reds had come to an earlier agreement.

United continue to be linked with new goalkeeper signings, as Sir Alex Ferguson looks for a suitable replacement for the out-going Edwin Van Der Sar. Tomasz Kuszczak and Ben Amos are also in the running along with Lindegaard.

Amos told ManUtd.Com“Games in the first team don’t come round too often when you are the No.3 keeper. There is only one position and we train a lot. Every year I set a target because you have got to keep yourself motivated. You also have to be patient because a goalkeeper’s career is different.”
