Title Race Wide Open - Anders Lindegaard 20/10/2011
United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard has dismissed opinions that the Barclays Premier League title race will be contested by only two clubs. Reining Champions The Red Devils face Manchester's 'other' club, City, on Sunday - with both sides eyeing top spot in the League, and ultimately the trophy... United have won the Premier League on a record 19 occasions, while little brothers Man City have claimed the title just 2 times (the last in 1968 !). The Reds host The Blues in another mouth watering Manchester Derby at Old Trafford at the weekend, with Sir Alex Ferguson's men looking to make their 'noisy neighbours' look like boys as they did earlier this season in the 2011 FA Community Shield triumph at Wembley Stadium. Lindegaard has this to say... "Four games ago I would have said it will be between City and United, but Chelsea seem to be going well as well," the 27-year-old Danish goalkeeper said, shrugging off suggestions that the League is going to be a walk in the park for United this campaign. "You can't say it is just about United and City now. It is too early. I think City have looked very good. They have quality players in all positions. They have two for each position, just like us." "There is no doubt it is going to be a tight race this year. But one of the things that impressed me most when I came to United is that every game is handled the same way," he explained. "It doesn't matter whether it is Crawley at home or Chelsea away. It has always been very serious. It seems like one of the cornerstones of this club is to always take your opponent seriously. It is going to be a normal build up to the City game, as it would be with any other." Commentsni fan#1 20/10/2011 11:10pm
