United have been pitched against Crystal Palace in the Quarter-Finals of this year's Carling Cup. The Red Devils beat Aldershot Town 3-0 away midweek, and have been rewarded with a place in the next round at Old Trafford. The Eagles, a current Championship side, visit at the end of November... Aldershot Town were no match for The Reds on Tuesday, as goals from Dimitar Berbatov, Michael Owen and Antonio Valencia saw United safely through to the Fifth Round of the Football League Cup. Sir Alex Ferguson's team has won 3 out of the last 5 Carling Cups, last winning the competition in 2010. Last season, West Ham United knocked a youthful Reds side out of the competition, with Birmingham City eventually winning the Cup Final v Arsenal. United now face former Premier League hot shots Crystal Palace, whose last appearance in the top flight came in the 2004/2005 season, when they were relegated. The fixtures takes place in the final week of November, with the day yet to be confirmed.
