José Mourinho Recommended By Sir Alex ? 22/09/2011
José Mourinho has been sighted as the next Manchester United manager by Sir Alex Ferguson, according to the media. Sir Alex won't retire anytime soon, but when he does United have the mammoth task of replacing the best football manager the world has ever seen. But out supporters are unsure over 'The Special One'... "I have absolutely no idea (who my replacement will be). First of all, I’m not retiring...." Sir Alex said midweek, after journalists raised the question over José Mourinho taking over the reigns at Old Trafford. Ferguson, 69, has been in charge at United since 1986 and there will be a massive void left when he eventually stops. But Chief Exec. David Gill recently stated that the club were working hard, with the current gaffer, to find a worthy successor to his throne. And according to the experts, that man is José Mourinho. The 48-year-old former Benfica, Uniao De Leiria, Porto, Chelsea and Inter Milan boss and current Real Madrid chief is seen as one of Europe's top football managers in the current climate. However, questions have been raised by United fans over his temperament after recent displays of petulance in La Liga. Controversy comes naturally to him, but there is no doubt an awe of self confidence. Mourinho possesses many traits, some good and some bad, but as yet most of us are unsure whether he really is Manchester United material. He has, however, won 2 Champions Leagues, 2 Portuguese, 2 English and 2 Italian domestic league titles and many other achievements across the continent. But, he is usually a short-term manager - something United are not used to. So, we'll leave the decision to Sir Alex and Mr. Gill this time around... CommentsSteed 22/09/2011 11:56am
Wouldn't like him at all, great manager but doesn't focus on youth or attacking football and would also cause too much controversy. Pep would be great but I can't see him leaving barca, although he might be tempted by having more control at utd. Hope fergie stays alot longer! andy mara 22/09/2011 1:21pm
S.A.F loves M.U.F.C . . . I don't think he'd suggest or recommend anyone who couldn't maintain the standards he's set. jus' sayin'. Baldrick 22/09/2011 3:14pm
There are plenty British managers who are good enough managing lower rated sides who would relish the chance to manage the best team in the Premier. Moyes, O'Neill, McCarthy all have a passion for the game Stephen 22/09/2011 3:51pm

José Mourinho great manager no doubt but at what expense to United, he is destroying spanish football and when he goes to England he would do the same. United fans deserve a good and honest manager. In Fergie We Trust 22/09/2011 5:36pm

Pep would be ideal but im sure i read that they'd wana find a british replacement for fergie. Id love to see harry redknapp hes a good manager n has always worked well for teams with low budgets for transfers, imagine what he could do for united even if it was for 5 years to keep n maintain balance after fergie goes.
