Sir Bobby Charlton believes Manchester United are primed to win their 20th Barclays Premier League trophy, after the arrival of close to £60 Million worth of new talent. The legend is convinced that no one comes close to The Red Devils at the moment, and has backed our new three players to shine...
United got their domestic league title defence off to a winning start against West Bromwich Albion on Sunday, winning 2-1 thanks to goals from Wayne Rooney and Ashley Young. The Champions are fresh from defeating Manchester City 3-2 in the 2011 FA Community Shield at Wembley Stadium the weekend before last, and Sir Bobby has said Sir Alex Ferguson has sent out a message of intent to any challengers to The Red Devils' throne.
"He is marvellous, Alex." Mr. Charlton expressed. "I don't know how he does it, every year he comes up with something different - change of coach, change of players - he is just fantastic. We are there again, ready for the 20th." Of Phil Jones, Ashley Young and David De Gea, Bobby said: "I am really impressed with them. I think Alex surprised a lot of people by fielding a team like he did initially, but he is always right. I don't know why, he always is."
With new goalkeeper De Gea receiving criticism of late, Charlton defended him, saying: "He is a great goalkeeper and we knew about that when he was coming. You have got to remember he has arrived in a strange city, a strange country where they don't speak the same language and they are more passionate about football, even in Spain. But Alex and the staff will work their magic, and he will be one of the great players by the end of the season, definitely."
