Roy Keane backs Manchester United for the title
Roy Keane has dismissed Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool as challengers to the Premier League crown. The former Manchester United captain has given his backing to Sir Alex Ferguson to go out and clinch the club's 20th domestic league title. Keano believes we'll win at a canter...

The Irish icon was speaking after Celtic Legends beat Manchester United Legends at Celtic Park this week, as Roy Keane played for both in his playing career. The match was in aid of Charity, with proceeds from the 55,000 spectators going towards the Horn Of Africa Drought. The 40-year-old gave his views on The Red Devil's prospects of winning yet another Barclays Premier League trophy, and replied 'if there in it, they'll win it !'.

"Sir Alex Ferguson said the other day the league's getting tougher. But I don't think so. If United are really in it - which they will be - they'll win it comfortably. Even last year when United were slipping up, no team was strong enough to take advantage of it." Speaking about Chelsea and their new manager AVB (Andre Villas-Boas), Roy said: "Everybody is on about this new young manager - but I don't think the manager will be the problem."

"It's always the players down there, they all seem to self-destruct (at Chelsea). They're big pals one minute and the next you hear they're all bickering with each other and players aren't happy if someone else scores. Then Arsenal haven't really bought anybody. They've signed a striker, Gervinho, and - while the jury's out - you always have to give a boy a chance. Liverpool have bought good attacking players but I think it's defenders that they need."

"Don't get carried away"
Keane warned, "Liverpool are in no position to win the league, nowhere near."

100 per cent agree with keano , although I'm convinced we need wes or schweinsteiger to strengthen centre midfield , then we got the perfect squad .. Anyone agree ?

Chelsea best days are over, and their best players are all aging.

Arsenal's best players doesn't wanna play for them as they know they may not win any trophies with the Gunners.

Liverpool are buying good players, not the great ones, and they still rely on Gerrard.

Tottenham haven't do any purchase and will at most get a Champions League spot.

Man City, I view them as the only contender who will challenge United all the way this season.

Man United will be much stronger this season with the departures of several olders players, the young ones will be eager to prove they can cope and even better off the previous team.

Either Keane thinks City have no chance, or is scared they're a major threat. His lack of words regarding City tell more than his words on the other's.

Can't really argue with his assessments.

Although him saying Arsenal haven't really bought anybody is about to change, with them about to sell Fabregas to Barcelona, and maybe Nasri to City. That's £60m, give or take, so they'll be bringing in one, or even two, of Phil Jagielka, Chris Samba and Gary Cahill, and most probably a new centre midfield as 3 will have been sold. Then their is Juan Mata from Valencia. That's probably the £60m gone on those 3/4 signings.

Liverpool desperately need some defenders, and I'm not convinced Scott Dann is the answer at the price of £15m. Should try their luck with a big bid for one of the Borussia Dortmund centre back's. And they've still got Jose Enrique to come in yet.

Chelsea still need a centre mid if they want to compete, and unless they fork out more money for Modric than they paid for Torres, they won't be getting him. Wouldn't be surprised to see Villas Boas give Porto a ring to try and buy Guarin/Moutinho.
