Will he stay or will he go ?... The major transfer saga this summer has involved Manchester United and Inter Milan, surrounding the future of star midfield player Wesley Sneijder. The Holland International is wanted by Sir Alex Ferguson, Wes wants to move and Inter are prepared to sell...
So, why hasn't Sneijder signed on at Old Trafford ?... Well, a financial stalemate is currently the only stumbling block in a £35 Million move. United and Inter are agreed on the fee - so say the media - but the player's representatives are asking for a salary of £220,000 per week for their client, while Reds' senior official David Gill has offered a 5-year, £200,000 weekly wage which Wesley Sneijder is yet to accept, so Sir Alex has apparently stated.
Quotes appeared in the tabloids this weekend attributed to Ferguson, who said Wesley will become a Red Devil if he accepts the deal the club has tabled. Otherwise, SAF will move on to his next target. "If he wants to come he must accept our contract offer. If not, we have other options in mind. We’re done talking." Now this doesn't sound like the old Sir Alex we know, and the gaffer has branded as 'nonsense' the stories which contains the above interview.
However, Bob Cass at The Daily Mail has refused to retract what United's boss appears to have confided in him. When questioned whether he had issued Sneijder an ultimatum, Fergie responded: "That's absolute nonsense. I have never discussed him (Sneijder). There is nothing new." The chief gave the reply after Manchester United's 2-1 win over Barcelona in Washington DC, where 81,807 supporters turned-out to watch Europe's big guns in action.

Wesley Sneijder has been followed by United fans at the Dublin Super Cup in the Aviva Stadium, Ireland
Inter Milan Chief Executive Ernesto Paolillo recently claimed that no player at the San Siro is 'unsellable'... "Is Wesley definitely not for sale ? - I don't think there's anything that can't be sold, it all depends on the price. You never say no if a big opportunity comes your way, but it does have to be a real opportunity." The 27-year-old midfielder is seen by United fans far and wide as the only player in Europe capable of replacing Paul Scholes.
On tour in Ireland with Inter, the Dutch talent impressed spectators at the Avivia Stadium while competing in the 'Dublin Super Cup' over the weekend. "There is always a chance something will happen but we will see. What is going to happen we will see, but I am a happy guy. There is always speculation, every year. I am happy to train every day with my colleagues and play my games for the fans and every one at the club..." - Wesley Sneijder.
But the most interesting words were spoke by Inter manager Gian Piero Gasperini, who admitted United had offered the player a contract, but wants the Premier League Champions to speak to the Italian club if Sir Alex wants to conclude the transfer. "I appreciate there's been an offer, but it's with Inter the negotiations should take place. I'm not necessarily worried, it's normal in this time to have this type of situation." It's all kicking-off now !
