Manchester United Ranked UEFA's No.1 Club 27/08/2011
 Manchester United are ranked as the top football club in Europe, by the 2011/2012 UEFA Coefficients. Although Barcelona are reigning Champions League holders, United are ahead of the Spanish Champions in UEFA's latest rankings. Wayne Rooney and Nemanja Vidic are also among the best footballers... United were beaten 3-1 by Barca in last season's European Cup Final at Wembley Stadium, London. Pedro Rodriguez, Lionel Messi and David Villa outscored Wayne Rooney on the night, which was Sir Alex Ferguson's third Champions League Final appearance in the space of four years. The Red Devils are only getting stronger in Europe, and their record places them ahead of any other club in the competition in this season's UEFA rankings. The Reds are ahead on 130 points, while Barcelona follow on 128 points. The top ten is then made up of Chelsea, Bayern Munchen, Arsenal, Porto, Real Madrid, Internazionale Milano, Liverpool, and Olympique Lyonnais. United were pitched against Benfica, Basel & Otelul Galati in the Champions League Group Stage draw midweek, where Leo Messi was deservedly named UEFA Player Of The Year, following a stunning season with Barca. Rooney was in 5th place on the top ten 'Best Player In Europe' table, earning him the title as the second greatest striker in the voting. Nemanja Vidic followed in 6th, making him the top defender in European football. Wazza and Vida were the only 2 Premier League players in the top 10, with 5 from the Spanish league, 1 from the Portuguese league, 1 from the Italian league and 1 from the German league.
