Inter Milan have agreed to sell midfielder Wesley Sneijder to United, after accepting a bid exceeding £30 Million, if tabloids are to be trusted. The papers are awash with speculation over the 27-year-old's future, with the Holland International's agents set for talks at Old Trafford this week...
Pending official confirmation, Wes Sneijder and his representatives will discuss personal terms with United officials this week. This comes after United made an offer to Inter for Sneijder over the weekend, which is believed to have been accepted by the Italian giants. The media state that the 'Nerazzurri' are content with The Red Devil's bid, which is said to be a fee over the £30 Million mark. Sneijder could therefore become a Red by next week.
Sneijder has played 79 competitive games for Inter since joining from Real Madrid for £13 (€15) Million in 2009. The Dutch International has scored 15 goals for the club, and has assisted 19 more. He named UEFA Midfielder Of The Year in 2010, and has won many major tournaments, including La Liga, Eredivisie, Serie A, Champions League and Club World Cup with Ajax, Madrid and Inter. He also finished runner-up in the World Cup with the Netherlands.
"Sneijder is brilliant." Paul Scholes exclaimed on MUTV this week. "He’s been brilliant for the last year or so with Inter Milan and Holland. I don’t think it probably worked out as well as he would have liked at Real Madrid but he’s a top player. I’m sure there’s a lot of clubs who will be after him if he is available." Sir Alex Ferguson sees Wesley as the ideal replacement for the retired central genius, and Scholesy isn't to far off that school of thought either.
