Old foes Leeds United will welcome United to Elland Road in September, after the pair were matched in the Carling League Cup Third Round draw on Saturday. The Red Devils won the competition in 2010 at Wembley Stadium - their 4th - and have past history against Leeds in the Carling Cup...
Last season, West Ham United knocked-out an inexperienced United side at Upton Park, as The Reds looked for their second consecutive Carling Cup win. The previous 2010 Final was contested between Aston Villa and United, with Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney cancelling-out James Milner's early penalty conversion. In this season's 3rd Round of the League Cup, Sir Alex Ferguson's side travel to Leeds United in late September.
United beat Leeds 3-2 at Elland Road in the Carling Cup courtesy of Eric Djemba-Djemba's injury-time winner in 2003. The Peacocks were once Premier League title contenders, but have since fallen into the lower leagues of domestic football. The old rivalries will now be stoked once again, as Sir Alex pitches his wits against Simon Grayson's Championship team. The fixture will take place on the week commencing September 19th.
