England U-21's play Azerbaijan in next week's International break, as part of the U-21 Euro qualifiers, and then Israel in a friendly the following week. Ben Amos, Phil Jones and Danny Welbeck were all announced in the 27-man squad to face the two nations, but Chris Smalling and Tom Cleverley were left-out, indicating involvement in Fabio Capello's senior side's matches against Bulgaria and Wales for 2012 UEFA European Championship qualification.
The senior Three Lions' squad will be announced on Sunday, with Rio Ferdinand, Michael Carrick, Ashley Young and Wayne Rooney - plus Smalling and Cleverley - all expected to form part of the group. Back to the youngsters, and Amos could make his debut for the U-21's after he was an unused substitute against Iceland in 2011, with regulars Jones - likely to make his 10th appearance - and Welbeck - in line for his 15th cap.
