Sir Alex
The United boss has admitted signing Inter Milan's Wesley Sneijder won't be an easy task. Sir Alex already revealed his interest in the Holland International, while the 27-year-old is also keen on a move to Old Trafford. The Italian club will only sell their most prized asset for £35 Million...

Wes Sneijder is seen as 'the' replacement for retired mid Paul Scholes, who finished the season aged 36. However, United and Sneijder's reps do not see eye to eye on the Dutchman's salary, a dispute which Chief Executive David Gill and his officials are currently working to resolve. The Red Devils are not prepared to pay more than £200,000 per week, while the player's agents are asking the Premier League Champions for £50,000 more.
Wes Sneijder to Manchester United ?
Wes to become a Red ?

Inter Milan are resigned to losing their World Cup finalist for £35 Million to United, but manager Sir Alex has continued to deny any deal has been struck. Fergie spoke to the press during The Red's summer tour of The USA, saying: "Forget it. We are looking at some things, but I am not so sure Sneijder will be easy to get. I could pick three or four players to come in but they wouldn't be good enough for us, so there is no point."

"I would be happy enough (not to sign anymore players). Maybe I am a bit overloaded in the strikers' positions. The alternatives in midfield are not nearly as strong. But I have a good squad." Sir Alex knows that the club needs at least another world class midfielder, after the departure of Scholes, Owen Hargreaves, and possibly Darron Gibson, while Darren Fletcher remains ill with a virus. The 'Sneijder Saga' continues...

I've said it time and time again to everyone. Wesley will not be joining United. The guy wants £220,000+ a week on top that £40m+ transfer fee. And for that prince I think we should forget it.

Mario Goetze is who we need.

@ Sean - I think the spin you put on this story just depends on how you look at it. Sky are a total joke so I would not mind anything they report. That said I am not sure the coverage on this blog is perfect either. The suggestion that Sneijder is keen to join Utd is not backed up. In fact I think if Sneijder was more open about this it would make more confident Fergie would push for a deal. Fergie wants players to push for a move like Berba, Yorkie, Ruud, Rio etc over the years. I am with Krishan tho that this deal will never happen if the fee and wages are as high as reported. What gives me some hope is that the Boss is at least acknowledging we are short in midfield. Have to say Fletch really worries me.

@Sean - Hey , dont show us hope that we will sign sneider , he clearly said it "FORGET IT" and when fergie speaks up sth he really means it , this is the end of sneijder saga. About lowering the wage demand your talking , fergie doesnt need to come out in public to do that , he knows he's business, so i hope you stop manipulating !

I`m getting sick of all this now,its been going on for months and doesnt seem to be coming to an end! There is no dowt we need another midfielder maybe even two. Is sneijder the perfect replacement for scholes? I dont think so, I would much prefer us to sign bastian schweinsteiger (altho very unlikely) as he if an all round midfielder with everything in his locker, or we could maybe get nasri and defour/diarra for the same money as Sneijder, In SAF i trust and i`m sure our team will be awesome whatever happens. Signing Sneijder would be a gamble and he will disrupt our wage structure and signing age. either way i cant stand all this cloak and dagger stuff, if were going to sign him, sign him, if were not, move on and sign someone else...

True red Fergie has lied loads of times he said we wasn't buying de gea he said he would not sell a virus to real Madrid when they wanted Ronaldo and we sold him he does like mind games if it's not Sneijder he will have more targets he's not going to tell the press who we are after why so every1 else comes in with an offer something is going on only time will tell

I Do think fegie is still looking for someone creative in the midfield and also Hargo's replacement but he has said it that he will move for the right player at right price. With that in mind , i think these are the only players that may be our next signing or else no one !

Mario Gotze (Dortmund)
Jack Rodwell (Everton)
De Rossi (Roma)
Ganso (Santos)

I'd Love Sweinsteiger , but thats now gonna happen either !

@Chris
When did fergie say he will not buy De Gea??????

As for CR7 , yes he said he would not want he's best player to move to madrid , but when madrid came calling , ronaldo himself wanted to move on , and fergie never want unhappy player at united , after all club is bigger than any player , And look what the price was , it was a record bid , thats why he sold cr7.

Trust me folks, you dont want to face a serious disappointment , still thinking sneijder is gonna join , really he wont move to united !

I really do wish people would stop coming up with a list of player's names when they probably haven't seen some of the players actually play (apart from maybe a couple of clips from youtube.) This is what Sir Alex is eluding to when he said most players are just not good enough. We the humble fans might think we know of a player which would add to our team because everybody else appears to be sniffing round them, their agent is talking that clubs are in for them, or their club is spreading rumours possibly even simply because they have good stats on Champ Manager!

I believe United are still in for Sneijder but don't completely expect to get him. What we can take from this is Sir Alex admitting that he is short of options in midfield and also saying he was looking at "some things". I trust Sir Alex to find the right player, he knows what to look for in a player. Sir Alex has forgotten more about football than we know put together. Just chill out everybody if we get him we get him and if we don't we get somebody else.

If we don't get anybody then Sir Alex is an fucking idiot! (sarcasm)

We can't afford Sneijder. Just like we couldn't afford Nasri, Sanchez, Ozil, Villa, Benzema, or any other top player we've wanted in recent years for. Yet we've wasted good money on Ashley Young, who we didn't even need.

Then there was Bebe...

Lassana Diarra? Really? The guy who flopped at both Arsenal and Chelsea, was average at Portsmouth, and is now being casted off by Real Madrid, and people think he's good enough for Manchester United. Get a clue!

Re: Disillusioned Red - We haven't been in for Nasri, Sanchez is overpriced, we never went for Ozil (he wouldn't even get in our team anyway, seeing as we don;t play a formation that suits him), we bid for Villa but he went elsewhere, and Benzema was overpriced.

Wasted money on Ashley Young? Ever heard of a word called PATIENCE? Good grief... he hasn't even played for us yet, he's been at the club 20 days! God almighty!

I just think it's time we stopped playing Anderson in a deeper lying midfield role. Anderson's natural position is Attacking Midfielder.

I say push Anderson forward and play Ronney alongside Hernandez. I believe if this comes to fruition, then we can honestly forget about all these transfer rumours as we would have one talented brazilian stepping up, just like Nani did, and continues to do so.

Anderson in AM is certainly an option but if Fergie is to try that I think we need a world class DM playing behind him.

Not Carrick, not Fletcher, somebody who is at the very top of the game in that role.

Don't ask me who it should be but one thing I know is that he isn't a player currently at United.

And it's not Lass Diarra either.

For me we need to buy at least one top midfielder whether it be a Sneijder in the attacking role and then maybe a Fletch behind him or someone else defensively with Ando ahead of him.

Either way we need someone in there.

right Carrick Anderson Giggs Flecther ;i say Flecther will miss the first half of the season so we only have 3 players and Giggs one last the hole Season he only plays every Second game ; so you could say were down to two players Young can play there but so far he has played on left we will see were he play this week . fergie has said he wants Gibson to go . and fergie also he has 3 our four players in mind but says there is no piont in going in for them as we have better team which i agree with him . but Sneijder is the man for sure IF Carrick or Andderson my god Injured my god were in trouble then ;he is talking media buys fools leting them think were not in for Sneijder and people who beilve him are even big fools . he only wants the price to come down ;Look at the start of the season Carrick and Anderson will be out gass but the time we play Chesea . fergie only wants the price for Sneijder to come down and that is all

More mind games from the master , this is what he does best. The player wants to join united and he doesn't mind the wage drop but it's his agents that want more money . In today's football agents are like vultures , they want more, more, more ! Look what happened to rooney last season, his agent was giving him bad advise. I still think we will land him and it wouldn't surprise me' if they do it at the last minute before the transfer window closes. Positive thinking after all we are united!!!

Sir Fergie wastes too much time fraternising with the likes of Joe Sim and the Coolmore Mafia.

He's lost his hunger for the game.

We should fuck him off and get a manager who is focused only on winning trophies, like Jose Mourinho or Villas-Boas.

And THAT'S the TRUTH.

to be fair, Centre Midfield is the the toughest to fill. How many great CM are there currently? If there is, do you think their club will let them go easily?? Its not only us not getting the players we want, Barca haven't got Fab too!

In my opinion, we have made 3 very good purchase. Its not all about buying.. our best days --- Giggs, Scholes, Neville bros, Butt, Beckham... they all came thr the youth system! It have been a while since we last produced something like that... Who know? this might be the year?

Marc: Sir Alex has already hinted at Pogba and Morrison getting a chance this season. Tunners is out on loan getting vital first team experience in the Championship.

As you indicate, it isn't of 100% important that we buy a centre midfielder. Obviously, if the right man is available (that man is never going to be Wesley Sneijder), then good.

Sir Alex also said there are some he could easily be, but there would be no point as they wouldn't be good enough i.e. Lassana Diarra, Scott Parker, all the other flash-in-the-pan names like Ganso, Pastore and Rodwell.

As the battle for supremacy continues during the transfer window, English Premier League champions Manchester United have given a clear indication that the club will back manager Sir Alex Ferguson's ambitions to overtake Barcelona.

The club appear to be set to add at least a further three players this summer as the United boss urges his players to learn from their Champions League final defeat and dethrone the Spanish giants as Kings of Europe.

New reports indicate that Wesley Snijder, it appears, will join the Old Trafford club this week with claims from Italy that he has already said goodbye to fans and team mates with some having wished.

Next on the Old Trafford wishlist is that of Mexican youngster Erick Torres Padilla who at 18, is already under the United spotlight, and it is believed that a bid shall be forthcoming although the player will remain at current side Guadalajara on loan for at least one more season.

The third of United’s targets is that of another midfielder with Lassana Diarra favourite to be joining Ferguson’s men.

The record breaking manager is after a holding midfielder as it appears Darron Gibson will be allowed to move on and there is uncertainty regarding Darren Fletcher’s fitness due to the Scotland international picking up another virus.

The grand total for the three players could reach at least £50m which could take United’s spending over the £100m mark for the summer.

Still at Old Trafford, Ferguson may turn to Santos' Paulo Henrique Ganso in United's search for a playmaker, with a £25m bid being considered for the 21-year-old.

Great to hear that Sneijder may now go to City. Fucking typical of this club these days.

Barca are set to land Sanchez and Fabregas.

Real Madrid may sign Neymar.

As a United Fan , I had expected one major signing , but what do we supporters get , NONE ! this sucks , we will be lucky to win any titles this season , the team doesnt look outstanding compared to others ! I'm gettin a bit fed of the whole sneijder business too. I don't know what to think, part of me says there's no chance now as fergie's said forget it, and word of sneijders team mates saying they expect him to stay seem abundant in italy but for all the talk there's been one person keeping quiet and that's wesley sneijder. If he really is planning on staying then why has he not come out and said anything???? Personally I want sneijder at united badly. We need quality in the midfield otherwise you can forget winning the champions league, we may scrape the premiership but there's no chance of securing european glory with the midfield we got now. You know somethings not right when giggs is the best midfielder we got and he's close to retiring. Carrick furiates me, he's crap on the ball, scared of big names approaching him with the ball, all he does really is send a few nice pases over once in a while. Fletcher is hit and miss, one minute he's immense and the next back to being average. Anderson I like but I have found myself saying he has the potential to be great but I've been saying that for some years now and I'm still finding I'm saying it so times running out for him. Nani is good but needs to hit the gym, he's too much of a pussy and for some reason when he has a 50/50 option of shoot or pas I find it he usually makes the wrong choice which I put down to lack of vision. Young I'm yet to see but at the moment I don't know why we bought him, he only stood out at villa because he was playing for villa, time will tell if he can play with the big boys. Valencia I like and he's improving all the time and parks work ethic is second to none but, there is no amazing player that possesses real quality that stands out like ronaldo or beckham. That's where sneijder comes into play, he has great vision, his technical ability is up there with the best and he offers so many different bonuses for us to use. His vision and passing is oit of this world, and with hernandez constantly waiting to get on the end of a well timed through ball, that can only mean one thing.....goals. Plus he offers his free kick skills, something we've been missing since ronaldo left. If you ask any proper football fan to list 5 of the top midfielders sneijder will appear in most and it just makes me wonder who wouldn't want him in their side at any cost. I know price tags and wages are ridiculously high and have admired fergie in the past for sticking to his guns and not crumbling, but after years of further increasing prices it seems to be that its just the way its going be so as much as I don't like saying it its time to start forking out the money or risk gettin left behind. Part of me wonders, if fergie forked out 30 million for berbatov, a spurs striker who had 1 good season why the hell is he stalling at 35 million for sneijder???????

And that's my rant over lol
