Kiko Macheda Out To Stake A Claim 22/07/2011
Italian striker Federico Macheda has vowed to make an impact at United, following a below-par spell in his home country with Sampdoria. The 19-year-old striker netted a brace against New England Revolution in The Red Devil's first US Tour game, and 'Kiko' is hungry for more... Macheda made the most brilliant of debuts in 2009, coming on late at Old Trafford against Aston Villa only to score a stunning winner beyond the 90th minute mark to win the game 3-2, sending United to the summit of the Premier League, and ultimately securing another domestic league trophy. However, earlier this year Kiko was sent on loan to Sampdoria, making 16 appearances but scoring just once. His foster team were then relegated. But Macheda is back with his parent club, and eager to make his mark on Old Trafford next season provided he doesn't go out on loan again. "When you leave United to go to another team, you can see the difference. When you come back you have a better focus and can see things a lot more clearly. In that way, going to Sampdoria was good. It was a bad spell but sometimes a bad experience like that can make you a better man and a better player." "Sometimes, particularly when you have a debut like mine, people expect you to score fantastic goals in every game which is not easy for a player. Then it wasn't easy for me to establish myself because I didn't play every game. I'm happy with what I've done for United in the past, but now I'm back I want to do more. Even though there is a lot of competition for places, I know that if the boss gives me a chance I'll take it." CommentsMikeyy 23/07/2011 12:57am

Real sense that Kiko has grown up after his spell in Italy last year. He is an incredible finished .. he just needs to match that with hard work. True Red 23/07/2011 12:15pm
