Sir Alex Ferguson on US Tour
The gaffer has flatly denied media reports of Wesley Sneijder agreeing a deal with United. Sir Alex hinted that The Reds were monitoring the situation, knowing that Inter Milan 'do not want to sell'. CEO David Gill flies to The USA this weekend, but Fergie has said Sneijder won't be coming with him...

United Latest has learnt that the club remains interested in Sneijder, and will attempt to finalise a deal for the 27-year-old Dutchman to move to Old Trafford within weeks. However, the issue of a fee and wages are yet to be sorted-out, but it's understood that David Gill has a gentleman's agreement with the Inter Milan hierarchy. The Italian powerhouse have told United officials that they are willing to sell Sneijder for upwards of €40 (£35) Million.

Sneijder's agent Soren Lerby is holding-out for a £220,000-per-week salary, with The Red Devils prepared to stretch to £200,000. Behind the scenes, the Netherlands hero is seeking a move to Manchester, while his International coach Bert Van Marwijk has publicly told the press that his star mid would be a huge success under the guidance of Sir Alex Ferguson. But United's boss denied all of the above during a news conference in Seattle on Thursday...

"There's no real interest at this moment in time in Wesley Sneijder for a lot of reasons. I've not really been involved in it since we've come to America. So there's nothing I can tell you about it, I couldn't tell you. Nothing's imminent at this moment in time. Obviously we're trying but we've signed three players and we're very comfortable with that. We've filled the gaps we've needed to fill. But the one we're having difficulty replacing is Paul Scholes."

"I don't think we'll find a Scholes but we'll find a different type of player because United do that. Time and time again we've faced this problem when we've lost great players. Eventually something turns up, either through our youth system or we identify someone. Scholes is a player of a lifetime. In his 20 years at the club it's hard to pick out a bad game. He was such a great, consistent player for us but hopefully we can replace him." SAF added.

It's gettin a bit out of hand now, sneijder is either coming or not- this smacks of the ronaldhino transfer again- listening to all the comments from fergie I don't think we will sign him - I'd say we were interested but money has scuppered the deal. Shit
However I still think we will sign 1-2 central midfielders
At present we have Carrick, anderson, fletcher, Gibson and giggs- giggs is 38 Gibson on way out not good enough fletcher injured and leaves Carrick and Anderson so we need somebody
Hamsik from Napoli for 25m
Choite from Newcastle 10m strong midfield

He will come to united this season, sir Alex ferguson is cooling down the media , reasons for this is to stop more interests in the player , other teams like city and Chelsea can always go higher. It's true at this moment in time we will be fine and the three signings we have had have been good .

Look if sneider signs great but hes not da midfielder we need. we need a strong defensive midfielder who can break up opposition possesion of the ball and protect our back four. does anyone really think sneider is going to help get da ball off barca etc? yes hes great when has da ball but thats not our biggest downsight (it is second however). i cant deal with bloody carrick doing a half ass casper da friendly ghost impression in our midfield again.

Siz - we dont need a defensive midfielder, we need an attacking midfielder, look how many games we scraped a 1-0 win last season we have no-one supporting Rooney, little pea and berba, look at the top 4 teams in the prem - Chelsea got lampard liverpool gerrard arsenal fabregas etc, we need a sneijder or a nasri although both look unlikely now.

Just shut up, man. We can't afford Sneijder. It's over.

I predict we'll try to replicate the success we had with Little Pea by signing a young Mexican midfielder on the cheap. Cueball Torres or something was his name? It'll be him. And he'll be a flop.

Chill out, multi million pound deals take weeks even months to iron out. I think Fergie doesn't want to say anything to piss Inter off, but with Gill in Milan and bookies making the transfer odds on, there must be more than a hint of truth in him joining us. Just chill out a while and let it happen

to this:

http://www.oleole.com/media/main/images/member_photos/group1/subgrp465/obertanowenandvalenc_278067.jpg

People honestly think we can get superstars like Sanchez and Sneijder? Look at our biggest transfers recently: a guy from Wigan, a kid from Blackburn, a guy from Aston Villa, a kid from the Mexican league and a kid from Atletico Madrid (not a big club. They finished 7th last year and historically are the equivalent of Everton in Spain.)

When it comes to big transfers, we are not on the level of Barca and Madrid. We are not even on the level of Chelsea and City. People say "we've spent 50m this summer, that's good!" Yeah, it is. But even Liverpool have spent that amount this summer, plus they already spent another 55m in January.

We should give Inter 40m for Sneijder. In a world where Andy Carroll is worth 35m, that would be a bargain. We won't though, because we can't afford him. Glazers out!

Fabio Coentrao has signed a 5 year deal at Real Madrid 2 weeks ago.

I'm hoping we sign Sneijderman. He is the midfielder I would single out as a like-for-like replacement for Paul Scholes. Although my only concern is that he thrives in the position where Rooney currently plays.

Would people stop comparing Sneijder to Carroll because of the £35 million price tag. Liverpool paid over the odds for him as Torres moved on last day of Jan transfer window and Liverpool needed to financially make it worth Newcastle's while as they didn't have time to sign a replacement. Carroll has won nothing and played his first season in top flight football, Sneijder is a proven international and won everything with Inter, he also plays a different position to Carroll. Do you actually watch football, as it seems you don't by coming off with nonsense like that, wise up

Look, this is the usual case. Fergie is just covering his back with questions coming his way. He has basically said that no deal has been done because he believes inter won't sell and that snejider won't be going to America with gill at the weekend. This was obvious whether we sign him or not. It looks to me that we will end up signing him but it may end up being nearer end of august

There are some top players available this season and if Fergie plays his cards tight UTD could dominate for years to.come or at least ne in a fantastic position. We could do with Nasri and Sneijder and should at least bebthe prefered club for Nasri. Some class players out there at the moment. Even the likes of Witsel and Defour at standard liege would make great signing for the future. UTD have a great opportunity in this transfer window.let's hope they do it right. Maibs look id love better football and to see da creativity that a sneider or whichever creative midfielder could add but im just sayin defensive midfield is da priority. weve yet to replace Roy Keane. Hargraves should of and could of been that player. Its the reason we are not getting more possesion cos we cant get da ball back. Even da poor premership teams play two against us in midfield. Also i believe Carrick and Fletcher wud be better with a proper defensive midfielder next to them - and they our two best center midfielders defensively. Also in da creative midfield spot - giggs (38 but unreal again last year in da big games), Anderson, carrick/fletch, and also da young lads - cleverly, pogba and esp Morrison. Ince left to open up a spot for da likes of Scholes/Becks. Look at Wilshire this year with da gunners. But a defensive mid - we just dont have any hence da priority
