Portugal flanker Luis Nani has been quizzed on his future at Manchester United, having been linked with Barcelona in the Spanish press. But Nani has reaffirmed his commitment to The Reds, saying he is at 'the best club in the world'. The 24-year-old also welcomed Ashley Young to the club...
Nani scored 10 goals and assisted a further 15 for United last season, making a massive 48 appearances. The Portuguese International scored and assisted (combined) more scores than any other Premier League footballer throughout the 2010/2011 season, but was relatively unnoticed by critics for his heroics. Nani, 24, continues to fill the void left by the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid in the summer of 2009.
Asked whether Barcelona's interest was mutual, Nani responded by saying: "These are clubs that make you think. But, I'm sure I'll be at Manchester United because it's the best club in the world. I've been playing for many years in Manchester and play with players of the highest level. Ashley Young is a quality player but I won't be intimidated. I've played with Cristiano Ronaldo and was not intimated."
"All players want to play a final." Nani said of his starting line-up absence in the 3-1 UEFA Champions League Final loss to Barca at Wembley Stadium, London last month. "I gave my best to be there, but unfortunately did not play because of the technical options and I have to respect that. Now I think about next season and want to be stronger."
