Glazer Family Ponder Stock Market Floatation 12/06/2011
According to the financial world, The Glazer Family are contemplating listing The Red Devils on a European or Asian stock market. United are valued at £1.7 to £2 Billion by the unpopular American owners, which could see thousands of supporters having their say in the club. The Qatar Royal family are also interested... The Glazers, who bought the club for nearly £800 Million in 2005 after acquiring shares from John Magnier and JP McManus, are considering selling the club for up to £2 Billion. However, their method may not be a straightforward sale, as proposed by the press when The Qatar Royal Family displayed interest in the world's most valuable sports team. The Yanks are investigating the possibility of floating United on a stock exchange. The full details are as yet unknown, but the London Stock Exchange (FTSE) and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX) are the most attractive to The Glazers. Supporters have campaigned against their ownership, citing recent losses in the club's balance sheets and the lack of transfer funds available as serious causes for concern. The Qatar Foundation, owned by the ruling family of Qatar, are said to be keen on a direct sale. But for the moment, floating The Reds in Europe or Asia seems a more likely outcome. Talks are ongoing between the owners and their financial experts, while a Wall Street offering has not been ruled out so far. The Initial Public Offering (IPO) of large companies such as Prada and Samsonite in recent days will give a gauge to as how the stock exchanges would react to The Reds reverting back to their previous publicly listed activities.
