Manchester United are 2010/2011 Barclays Premier League Champions, but manager Sir Alex Ferguson has hardly begun to celebrate The Red Devils's unequalled 19th English domestic league title before looking to lifting the Premier League in seasons to come. The boss also says he wants to freshen-up the squad...
United secured a record-breaking 19th domestic league win at Ewood Park on Saturday afternoon, as The Reds drew 1-1 with Blackburn Rovers. Brett Emerton put The Lancashire side into the lead on 20 minutes, but Wayne Rooney reversed the scoreline when he netted a penalty on 73 minutes, after Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez was floored by Paul Robinson. United were deemed Champions, but will have to wait until next weekend to lift the trophy.
"There's a responsibility as the manager of Manchester United," Fergie told MUTV. "It doesn't go away. I'm not changing anything. I'm not going to take it easy because we won the title today. Hopefully we'll be better next season, and we'll be adding two or three players in the summer. We've got some young players coming back like Danny Welbeck, Thomas Cleverley and Mame Diouf and we want to be better."
"I think the ambition of the club doesn't alter. One league title opened the door for us because we won the double the next year with a great team, and since then we've carried along in the sense that we've always been challenging for the title. It's an amazing feat. For 19 years, we've been competing for the league. It's an incredible achievement and every young player that comes to the club gets engrained into the fabric of that."
Sir Alex added: "Chris Smalling has got his first medal, so have Darron Gibson and Chicharito. It's a wonderful experience for them because they are the future..."
