Sir Alex Ferguson
As Sir Alex Ferguson prepares his team to lift an unparalleled 19th Premier League crown, the gaffer can revel in the knowledge that his personal tally of 12 domestic league cups is his great achievement to date at Old Trafford. Fergie will no doubt out-do himself once again in seasons to come...

Manchester United's title win - secured by a solitary point earned at Ewood Park last weekend - will rank among Sir Alex Ferguson's greatest achievements in an already glittering career. Having held off competition first from Arsenal, then Chelsea, his side - written off by many at the start of the season for not having enough strength in depth or experience in defence - have shown their true colours as a collection of players instilled with the sort of confidence which can only come from being a part of the most successful footballing dynasty that England has ever seen.

And it's not as though the club haven't had their share of problems this season. First there was Wayne Rooney's regrettable handling of his contract renegotiation, closely followed by his subsequent injury before Gary Neville's retirement midway through the campaign and throughout the season there have been question marks over the ability of some of the elder members of the squad to continue playing at the highest level.

Whilst there are many who see the glorious end to this season as the right time for many members of 'Fergie's Fledglings' to hang up their boots and retire, Ryan Giggs embodies the spirit of United as he continues to roll back the years and defy the critics by evolving as an athlete, from flying winger to cultured midfielder. By doing this, he has mirrored his club's entire campaign - he may not be exactly what he once was, but he gets the job done, and on his day, he's still unplayable. The Manchester United betting odds indicate he still has a part to play.

Of course, the grand finale to the season will come against Barcelona in the Champions League final, but with Blackpool as the visitors to Old Trafford on the final day of the Premier League season, there will be plenty of interest surrounding the team Ferguson chooses to put out. He will already know his starting eleven of course, but there will be plenty of fringe players busting a gut to be included in the squad at Wembley, so don't expect this game to be any less ferociously competed than their last outing at Blackburn.
