Over 150,000 Manchester United supporters lined the streets of Manchester to celebrate The Red Devil's record-breaking achievement of 19 English domestic league trophies. The Barclays Premier League Champions toured the city on a 'CHAMP19NS' open-top bus, boasting the League title on front of nearly one sixth of a million fans. Despite the recent defeat to Barcelona - coupled with the bad weather - the parade was a memorable event.
Sir Alex Ferguson led his squad to a non-paralleled success of 19 Premier League crowns, overtaking neighbours Liverpool, stuck on 18 titles since 1990. Such a monumental accomplishment was in no way tarnished by UEFA Champions League Final defeat to Barcelona at Wembley on Saturday night, a possible 4th European Cup would only have been 2nd-best to this season's fulfilment of 'number na-na-na-nineteen'.
The no.19 bus set-off from Deansgate, central Manchester - via Old Trafford - and on through to Stretford. The dull and wet bank holiday Monday noon was light-up by red and white streamers, the brightly red coloured bus and the 150,000+ Manchester United adherents. Sir Alex spoke to the onlookers, as did many of the players (one or two of whom sang), pleasing the massive crowd around the city... It's not all bad !
