The Scousers hold The Gunners to help Manchester United in the Premier League title race...
Manchester United will bank on their vast experience of winning trophies in the next few games, following an epic result at The Emirates in favour of The Red Devils. It looked for the world as though second-placed Arsenal had claimed a dramatic result inside 8 minutes of added time following a scoreless 90 minutes. However, Liverpool bit back past the 100 minute mark to help everyone at Old Trafford in the hunt for our 19th Premier League title.
The Gunners took on The Scousers in a crucial game at The Emirates, under the watchful eye of Sir Alex Ferguson, who was in the stands having watched United falter at the hands of Manchester City in The FA Cup Semi-Finals at Wembley on Saturday. With 8 minutes added on by referee Andre Marriner, Liverpool's Jay Spearing tripped Cesc Fabregas inside the box, with Robin Van Persie converting the spot kick in the dying minutes.
With the clock ticking over 98 minutes, The Scousers managed to win a free-kick on the edge of the area. Luis Suarez' effort was blocked-down by The Gunners' wall, but when the ball fell to Lucas Leiva he was unnecessarily tripped by Emmanuel Eboue on the edge of the six-yard box. Dirk Kuyt duly stepped-up to snatch a late, late point for Liverpool - leaving Arsene Wenger sick to the stomach with his side's collapse.
The 1-1 result means United have the opportunity to go 9 points clear of Arsenal on Tuesday night, as Sir Alex's Red Army are faced with a trip to St. James' Park to take-on Newcastle United. Tuesday's match-up will put United one game ahead of The Gunners on games played - but you could hardly bet on Wenger's boys to pick-up a positive result at White Hart Lane against Tottenham Hotspur in their game-in-hand.
