According to fresh reports, Qatar Holdings are to up their bid in an attempt to oust The Glazer Family from Old Trafford for once and for all. It's said that the Qataris are to bid up to £1.5 Billion for Manchester United, after an earlier offer was turned-down. The Glazers are holding out for a figure closer to £1.8 Billion...
The Glazers have survived 6 years as the hated, mean, debt-ridden, shy owners of the world's biggest club. Although some say it's a blessing when the owners don't get heavily involved - look at Roman Abramovich and his destruction of Chelsea - but fans would rather have PR-friendly, wealthy owners any day of the week. According to
The Daily Mail that just might happen. The Qatar Royal Family is set to renew their bid for United.
The paper tells us that The Glazers have already turned-down a bid closer to £1.3 Billion, and that Qatar will come back with a £1.5 Billion offer for the club. As well as this, The Red Knights have contacted the Qataris on the possibility of going partnership together, boosting their funds and support ahead of any takeover of the club.
On Friday, The Reds are expected to disclose their financial results for the three months to the end of 2010 on Friday - which should see the club maintain it's position of the world's most valuable sporting entity. They are also believed to be preparing a statement that would see them pledge their long-term future to the club. Something no-one wants.
Earlier this week however, a report by
Sport+Markt revealed that Anti-Glazer, Green & Gold Campaign reduced United shirt sales by 10%. This puts a new kit deal with the Nike in jeopardy... another reason for The Glazers to leave !
