Glazers Rebuff Qatar Buyout Speculation 23/01/2011
![]() A Manchester United spokesperson has told the media there has been 'no approach' from anyone to buy the world's largest club. Qatar Holdings were rumoured to have bid £1.5 Billion for The Red Devils, however the debt-ridden Glazer Family are still adopting the stance of holding-out until an even better offer appears before their eyes... The Glazer Family, who bought the club for £800 Million in 2005, believe they can make a major profit on United if a £2 Billion takeover occurred. However, financial experts value the club at closer to £1.5 Billion - a figure many news outlets believe Qatar Holdings - a branch of The Qatar Investment Authority, controlled by the Royal Family from the Gulf state - placed before the American owners over the last few months. On Sunday morning, The Times revealed that The Glazers, club officials and Qatari representatives had held talks on a possible £1.5 Billion buyout. However, talks apparently failed due to the contrast of either parties' assumed worth of the club. A spokesperson from Old Trafford denied that talks had taken place, but sources believe that contact was made between the pair. The magnitude of the said talks is not known. Recently, World Football Insider reported that there was 'no truth' to speculation that Qatar Holdings had placed a bid for the Premier League leaders. However, according to The Guardian, the Qataris are determined to land United as the most-prized footie club globally, hinting that they will return with a higher offer in due course. "There has been no approach of any kind to buy the club and one wouldn't be welcome anyway because it is not for sale," said the Reds spokesperson, adding that the story in the papers was incorrect. The saga continues... CommentsJp 23/01/2011 9:37pm
Let's hope it happens - this can make utd the best again Busby 23/01/2011 9:42pm
JP, Darren 23/01/2011 9:44pm
JP we are already the best, look at the league table. OK, are there places in the team we need to strengthen but we are top of the league. What getting taken over would mean is that debt would be released from round our necks, SAF would still buy the right player and wouldn't just throw money at just anyone, see the noisy neighbours Luke 23/01/2011 10:09pm
I hope they do buy United, we need to get them American window men out! RedScot 23/01/2011 10:10pm
The saga continues as is written I would put a "ILLinformed" wager, not that I place bets, that funds to pay recently off the "piks" have come from that self same source Qatar.Watch this space, see if I am correct. Shaba 23/01/2011 10:33pm
Jus fkin sell it u priks!!! dan 24/01/2011 12:06am
we should plan something against the Glazers i think the game against saints next weak in the cup we have the hole away end ; lets have loads of banners anti Glazers and signing anti glazers songs ; i will put the word out i am going to that game ; and we will win so i dont think it will effect our players ; please listen to my idea ; it is the only game this season we can show the world what we think of does Americans cunts Mushy 24/01/2011 12:08am
Plz let's get rid of yanks once and for all Borba 24/01/2011 12:12am
If Qatar come back with a 1.7 bid the glazers will take it there greedy rich people it close to the 2.0 they want for the club. I can see them takeing the 1.7 bid and Qatar can take there 220 million back that they let the glazers borrow to pay the 770 million down. Its all buissness between the Glazers an Qatar hold group to find the middle gound it will happen we will have new owners going to next season and we will have money to buy this summer. Bobby 24/01/2011 12:49am
I think Americans are cool dudes but the Glazers make me sick. They disrespectin their lovely country supermonki 24/01/2011 5:33am

@Kyle from were abouts are u from in the U.S.A? Im from Cali I give all my support to Manchester United what ever it takes to get the Glazers out im all for it there the worst owners to have for this club they have no clue how football is run and what it takes to keep this club the best in the world.Hey Glazers if you have any brains in your head sell this club because its not American football money has to be spent to keep this club the best football club in the world Glory glory Manchester United. Only Rich Americans or everyone who is rich are all assholes and Dickheads. Jp 24/01/2011 9:12am
Love utd hate the glazers -- man utd are still the best but we lack funds - if we are bought buy them we will be loaded again - for instance ronaldo would still be there we would have bought silva last year plus we could compete with city for any decent player the comes available .Come on utd LackyMUFC 24/01/2011 9:25am
JP - Ronaldo wouldnt still be here, his dream was to play for Real Madrid, no amount of money would have kept him here. City are a joke and we dont want to end up like them, buying anything that can do a stepover. If we are the best then why would we do that amount of funds, we're managing pretty sweet as we are!! Jp 24/01/2011 10:15am
F ucking glazers Jp 24/01/2011 10:18am
And get rid of that lying scum bag David gill he is full of s hit Mufc dan 24/01/2011 10:32am
This is nt going 2 happen sorry guys happens all the time ppl get ther hope up and nothing has happened Iss 24/01/2011 12:06pm
The main reason I want the glaziers out is for us to balance the budgets so that we will quick replacement for the silva twins n nani because I have a deep feeling that pretty soon they will reveal there dream of playing for barca or real Madrid. Having money to bring back da denis irwins, cantonas, keane n Cole type players is very vital. So glaziers need to go eat their profit. God bless all of us that have united in their hearts. John Liaw 24/01/2011 2:00pm
Supermonki u're making too much noise... Rooney the white pele 24/01/2011 3:06pm

@borba I'm from Indiana and I've been following united since I started to like soccer (football) supermonki 24/01/2011 5:03pm
@John Liaw.. If u have anything against what i said, u obviously isnt a man utd fan and u dunno what the shit u r talking about.. Glazer = the grave of man utd.. dan 24/01/2011 5:27pm
will we sign any player before next Monday deadline day Ranks 24/01/2011 6:20pm
What everyone wants is Qatar to buy them out and then we can be going for the top dollar world class players, rather than cheaper good prospects. I don't agree with paying the likes of £40 million for a top player, but that's the market. Also just because u thro money at someone doesn't mean they'll always sign as things like the weather and culture always comes into it, but money does help. Hopefully the Glaziers see sense and sell, though all they see at the minute is more pound signs £££ Borba 24/01/2011 6:35pm
@kyle awsome nice to meet another fellow American that loves United and hates the glazers. I've been a Manchester United fan since i could understand The old portugese country folk so about 5 yrs old. Im portugese but born in california so my first language was portugese and first sport i got to learn about was football. 24/01/2011 6:38pm
Dan, Sir Alex said this in his pre-match notes before the win over Birmingham on Saturday... "I won't be going into the transfer market during the present mid-winter window. I thought at one time that I would like to bring in just one player, but that has not worked out. I don't feel that it is necessary to buy just for the sake of it because, as I say, I am more than happy with my squad." ChrisW 24/01/2011 7:32pm
If the Qataris really have provided the money to the Glazers to pay off the PIKs why would they then suddenly launch a bid? Kyle 24/01/2011 7:52pm
@borba nice to meet you too. A buddy of mine and I are huge fans we try to watch every match we can. we want to go see a match but since we're only 17 & 18 we have to wait a couple years. Brummie red 24/01/2011 8:30pm
The glazers are money motivated blood suckers who couldn't give a toss about what man utd is to the fans or to football in general. They have bought our club almost to it's knees maybe now they will do the right thing and sell for the good of football. I hope they will do it sooner rather than later!!! Dan 24/01/2011 9:27pm
ya i saw that at the match on Saturday ; but if a player comes up he might go for him ; David gill said in the summer the work 365 day in transfers ; so you never know if a player come up he might go for him; you now transfer deadline day is midnight so you never know mcabe 02/02/2011 12:55am
buy nothing from united as long as the glazers are owners . i mean absolutely nothin no jearseys stadium tours match tickets nothing it will be the only way these guys will sell, no money in means glazers out . it will be hard but its the only way lads . united through and through!!!!!
