Vida 'Enjoying' Captaincy Role 09/12/2010
![]() Nemanja Vidic has said he is currently 'enjoying' his relatively new role as captain of The Red Devils. He admits there is an added responsibility to the role as skipper, and the Serbian says he now finds himself being looked-up to. A lot has changed for the centre back since he joined the club in 2006... Vidic joined United on the 6th of January in 2006, and in his five years at the club he has notched-up 206 competitive appearances. The Serbian defender has recently been awarded the captaincy after Rio Ferdinand - the former leader - fell out of kilter after a string of injuries. Vidic has been widely commended in his 20 games as captain this season. "Obviously, there is a bit more responsibility and I'm coming to the age when I have more responsibility, me and a few others in the team," said the 29-year-old. "I am quite happy, and I'm enjoying it. It's not a question you should ask me, about my performances and how I play this season. I'm at an age now where I have to take more responsibility as a player." "When I came here I was 24 and I was still young and a lot of older players took responsibility on the pitch. But now I have to do that, be supportive to the younger players and be an example. It's something that comes naturally as you get older." he adds. "The more responsibility you have and the more pressure you have, I think the better your focus and concentration are. So it helps." Available On The App Store Comments Comments are closed. |
