Match Preview: Aston Villa v United 12/11/2010
Match Preview - Aston Villa v Manchester United Competition: Premier League Kick-Off & Date: 12:45pm, Saturday 13th November Venue: Villa Park, Birmingham (Away) Live TV Coverage: Sky Sports 2, 12:30pm - 3:15pm Referee: Mike Dean (Merseyside, England) Assistant Referees: Simon Beck & Simon Long Fourth Official: Martin Atkinson Form: Aston Villa aren't reaching highs of last season, but with the appointment of Gerard Houllier - they are slowly regained confidence after the shock exit of Martin O'Neill. Villa's last home game was a 3-2 win against Blackpool, with two draws against Fulham and Birmingham previous to that and wins over Burnley and Sunderland beforehand. The Villains also held Chelsea to a scoreless draw at Villa Park. United will be looking to get back to winning ways after a disappointing and boring 0-0 draw at Eastlands against Manchester City. The Reds are unbeaten this season in all competitions, but have drawn 5 out of 6 away games in the Premier League. Sir Alex's men were on the back of 6 straight wins heading into the Manchester Derby on Wednesday, and will have to get that show back on the road if we want to keep-up with Chelsea at the top. The Injury Front: Aston Villa are currently experiencing an injury crisis, with Carlos Cuellar and Habib Beye now ruled-out of Saturday's game. Influential midfielder Stephen Ireland is a major concern, suffering from a virus. Meanwhile, Emile Heskey, John Carew, Steve Sidwell, Fabian Delph, Stiliyan Petrov, Andreas Weimann and Nigel Reo-Coker are all long-term injury concerns. Squad: Friedel, Luke Young, Collins, Dunne, Warnock, Albrighton, Clark, Bannan, Downing, Ashley Young, Delfouneso, Guzan, Ireland, Agbonlahor, Lichaj, Lowry, Hogg, Johnson, Beye. United are hopeful that Patrice Evra can return for Saturday's early kick-off, after the left-back sustained a knock to his ankle against Manchester City mid-week. Rafael Da Silva is set to miss the game through injury, with Paul Scholes suspended. Wayne Rooney returns this weekend, but will not feature against Villa. Meanwhile, Ryan Giggs could return after a hamstring problem. Squad: Van Der Sar, Kuszczak, Brown, O'Shea, Ferdinand, Vidic, Smalling, Evans, Evra, Fabio, Obertan, Bébé, Carrick, Gibson, Fletcher, Anderson, Nani, Park, Berbatov, Chicharito, Macheda. ![]() The Gaffer: Gerard Houllier took the job as Aston Villa manager in September, after Martin O'Neill resigned from the club in August. The Frenchman is no stranger to United fans, as he guided Liverpool to 6 trophies in 6 years. But he never managed to snatch the Premier League from us... ![]() Most-Feared: Gabriel Agbonlahor will be wanting to show what he can bring to Villa over the next 5 years, after the 24-year-old striker penned a new deal on Friday. Gabby has only netted one goal this season, but United will have to alert, as he makes a return from injury on Saturday. ![]() The Ref: Mike Dean is one the most-hated figures around Old Trafford. He sent us on our way to losing the Premier League last season - and that's not a joke. His performance in the loss to Chelsea was a disgrace. Nevertheless, we have to get over that and look forward to winning it this year ! United Latest's Prediction: Aston Villa 0-2 United - Berbatov & Chicharito ? CommentsLouise 12/11/2010 8:54pm

Masterstroke bringing Kiko on. Gabby Obertan nearly scored too... hit ur Man's head! Borba 13/11/2010 6:38pm
Dimatar has lost all desire to attack balls in the air and play the game he has to go. Kiko did a great job in causing Villa problems when he came in. I could see Kiko lineing up with Rooney up front to cause havoc on opposing teams. Borba 13/11/2010 7:04pm
one thing i noticed from our games is that we really miss Antonio valencia Home games we play diffrent and have the home crowd behind the team but on the away games United are just missing something and i believe it is Antonio Valencia because throught 90min and xtra time he always runs at the defender And dosn't play with the ball at his feet tring to come in toward goal Antonio crosses the ball and dosent mess around Thats why Rooney scored all those goals Antonio dosent mess round you don't have to wait for the cross With Antonio you know the cross is coming. He is a big peice of our United puzzle that is missing. Khaninator 13/11/2010 7:38pm
No words to describe the match, were fuckef simple as that!!!!!! Its no wonder rooney was questioning united ambition to win trophies. Glazers have ruined our beloved club. Red Perot 13/11/2010 9:49pm
Don't worrie people still unbeaten Alex knows best Darren 13/11/2010 10:47pm
Forget Rooney, we're missing Antonio. steve 13/11/2010 11:30pm
rooney will save our season mark my words. i think fergie he not sanme fergie as 2007 2008 2009.. i wonder buy he never gets of his seat. shuting at players like he used to i think fergie should call in david haye and given the team advice in how to win the league clearly fergie has lost sonme touch. maybe a few days with david haye we might be in track he won toinght might give players a lift Khaninator 14/11/2010 2:54am
Agree with steve very rare we see fergie get out of his seat shouting at his players. He will surely have the energy to shout at the ref and linesman if they make a mistake lol lol!!!!! Comments are closed. |
