Wes Brown Credits Youngsters 27/10/2010
![]() Wes Brown was the captain on Tuesday night, leading United to a 3-2 victory over Wolves in the Carling Cup 4th Round. Three youngsters were included in the squad for the first time, while 20-year-old Bébé opened the scoring. Brown gave his thoughts... 20-year-old Portuguese winger Bébé started on the right wing, and after the break chipped into the goals, with the ball just about passing the line. Wolves then equalised through George Elokobi, but Ji-Sung Park restored the lead. United in were for a scare when Kevin Foley levelled for Wolves' second, but Chicharito came off the bench to notch the winner, sending The Reds into the Quarter Finals. Brown told the media: "Coming to Manchester United is a very different experience for Bebe. But he’s settled in well and he’s training well. Games like this will really help him. He's shown a little bit of what he can do and we know he’s capable of a lot more." "Ravel (Morrison) is a great player, he’s been training with us, on and off, since the start of the season. I think the gaffer really likes him, he’s very talented and he’ll obviously be delighted to have come on, even if it was for just a couple of minutes and he didn’t touch the ball. He’s a good lad and hopefully he can keep on progressing." he added. 17-year-old midfielder Ravel Morrison was included in the squad for the first time, and came on near the death. Also in the squad from the Reserves were 18-year-old Irish winger Robert Brady and 20-year-old Norwegian midfielder Magnus Eikrem - however neither managed to get a run about. "We did well, especially the players who’ve not played many games. We battled hard and although we let a couple of goals in, I thought we kept on going and our determination got us through in the end. We really want to win this competition for the third time in a row. We’re definitely going to try and do it again." “I think I was the oldest player in the team by a good few years so that's why I got the armband" added Wes. Comments Comments are closed. |
