Owen Hargreaves Makes United Squad 01/09/2010
![]() Manchester United have named injured midfielder Owen Hargreaves in their 25-man Premier League squad. The news comes after intense speculation regarding the 29-year-old's future at Old Trafford. We have all the details... Hargreaves - suffering with a long-term knee problem - has been the subject of media speculation regarding his future at Old Trafford recently, with some reports suggested the 29-year-old Canadian-born England International would be left-out of United's 25-man Premier League squad, while some doubted Hargo had a future at the club. Oliveira Anderson was another doubt, also out with a knee injury, but he too has made Sir Alex's list. At 5pm on Wednesday, ManUtd.Com confirmed that Hargreaves had been included in the League squad, which comprises of 23 registered players. All of The Reds' players have been included in the squad, barring players out on-loan. The club have this evening stated: "All of United's players - barring those currently out on loan - are eligible to play for The Reds in the Premier League this season." Hargreaves is currently undergoing rehabilitation work in Colorado, United States, while Anderson is set to line-up against Oldham Athletic's Reserves tonight, along with England skipper Rio Ferdinand. The new guidelines - voted-in by all 20 Premier League clubs - limits each team to a 25-man squad, which consists of 8 or more home-grown players: trained for three years under the age of 21 by coaches in the English and Welsh professional system. No more than 17 players over the age of 21, and not home-grown can be permitted to be in the squad. An unlimited amount of U-21 players can be part of the squad - whose names are not counted in the 25-man squad. All teams were required to submit their according squads to The FA before 5pm, on September 1st. The Full 24-Man Squad: Darren Fletcher, Tomasz Kuszczak, Ritchie De Laet, Darron Gibson, Edwin Van Der Sar, Ryan Giggs, Wes Brown, Owen Hargreaves, Luis Nani, Oliveira Anderson, Ji-Sung Park, Jonny Evans, Patrice Evra, Rio Ferdinand, Paul Scholes, Antonio Valencia, Gary Neville, Dimitar Berbatov, John O'Shea, Javier Hernandez, Nemanja Vidic, Michael Carrick, Michael Owen, Wayne Rooney. Why would he not be in the squad? Fergie can name 25 senior players, if Hargo was left out there's only 24 players left. If there is any chance of Hargo playing he has to be named, and if he doesn't return there's no harm done, no-one has been left out for him to have a place. Unfortunately, naming him in the squad doesn't mean anything.

No Mecheda, smalling or Bebe because they are all under 21 years old. The rule says you can have unlimited number of those.
