Vidic: We Will Get Stronger 22/08/2010
![]() Nemanja Vidic looked as though he was skippering his side to victory in London on Sunday, but a late shock equailiser from Brede Hangeland broke United hearts as they failed to keep-up with Chelsea's pace in the Premier League - dropping two points away to Fulham... With United going ahead through Paul Scholes in the first half - it looked good for The Reds. A Brede Hangeland own-goal put The Reds into the lead again, after Simon Davies had leveled in the second half. The win was in the bag, everyone thought, as Luis Nani stepped-up to take a penalty. He missed. And Hangeland made-up for his own-goal with a late, late header. Speaking to MUTV, Vidic said: "It's a bad result, especially when we had a good result in the last minutes of the game," sobbed the Serbian skipper. "A draw is difficult to take and we feel real disappointment about what happened in the end, but I hope we take some points from the goal we lost, and it doesn't happen again." "It's hard to take. I think we would have been happy with the result - if not the performance - if we had won, but there are definitely some points to take from the game. The goal we lost at the end was a shame and we probably need to improve at set-pieces." "We had a draw against Newcastle two years ago," he recalled. "We've had some bad results at the beginning of seasons, and we don't want to get down after this result. It's hard to take because we had the result and as a team we have experience. We shouldn't allow them to score again two minutes from the end. That's why we're disappointed, but I hope in the next game we will be stronger." added Vida... CommentsJonyB 22/08/2010 9:45pm
Vida, wirth his fellow defensive inept performers; O'Shea and Evans was the main reason we lost this game. Park and fletcher were anonymous but its the defences inability to properly defend and pass the ball that gave Fulham so much encouragement.

I agree but it was very uncharacteristic of the three. However, just as I feel Owen should be moved aside to give Chicharito more opportunities, I feel Rafael should be our starting RB, not O'Shea.

Sheasy has proved to be a very reliable player for us and Rafael has already made more big mistakes than him. He will continue doing that for another couple of seasons. He's far too fucking young and inexperienced for us to make him first choice right now.
