Tom Cleverley Joins Wigan On-Loan 31/08/2010
![]() TRANSFER NEWS: As we anticipated yesterday, Wigan Athletic have agreed a deal with Manchester United to sign midfielder Tom Cleverley on a loan. The 21-year-old will stay with The Lactics for the new season - despite Sir Alex saying the 21-year-old would stay put... As United Latest revealed on Monday, Wigan and United agreed a deal that would see Cleverley joining The Lactics on-loan. The youngster impressed on tour with The Reds' during the summer, with Sir Alex claiming that Cleverley would be part of his plans for the new season. Cleverley vowed to fight for his place at Old Trafford, but the manager has decided to loan the England U-21 International to Wigan for the season. The midfielder spent last season with Watford, after a short spell with Leicester City. Cleverley scored 13 goals in 50 games in his loan spells in The Championship. Speaking to wiganlatics.co.uk, Wigan boss Roberto Martinez said he was delighted with the deal. "Tom is a very exciting young player and we are delighted he his coming to us." "He can play in a number of positions and will provide us with some good new options, and add great competition to the squad. We have been watching him for some time and feel he is the right sort of player to join our squad: young, hungry, desperate to play for the club in the Premier League and to grow with us." From all at United Latest, we wish Tom the very best at his new temporary home... Commentsbrian 30/08/2010 5:48pm

That my friend, is coming up tonight on our Blog. Currently it is a possibility, but I'll have to get some inside information if I can. The Cleverley deal hasn't even been confirmed as yet, but it is most likely to happen...

So much for Cleverley being a star for United. Hes of an age and experience of first team football( although at a lower level) that I would have thought he would have been in the first team at United this season. Bet he feels like hes been kicked you know where by the club especially if its true that SAF wants Rodwell

Surely if fergie is letting cleverly go then he has something planned. Also, I think fergie would be looking at cleverly as a centre half, perhaps he is open to letting ferdi leave?

Is there any news of the possible transfer of Steven Defour or Paulo Henrique Ganso to Man Utd !!!!!!

Rodwell transfer is very unlikely, due to the way we do business these day, chances are, if it was going to happen, we wouldn't hear a word about, not a sniff!!

Fergie said that he was not going to loan out Cleverley but seeing as he is there might be a transfer planned for United.

gutted he's going, suppose it'll do him well to play every week, from wathin him pre season, thought he could do a god job for us. But if u look at Welbeck now, he might get a run in the team with Campbell being injured and apaentl he played well when he came on against City.

Really disappointed about this - thought Cleverley could make an impact for us this year. No way I can see Rodwell transfer happening.

Where's that Rodwell blog? It's been nearly 3 hours. Also, does getting proper facts mean tweeting a few people in the industry? Or do you use more than twitter to find out? I really don't want a 24 hour Ozil style saga over this one

Now over 5 hours, don't say soon when that's a total blag. It probably won't say anything exciting anyway, as the story is probably a work of fiction by The Sun

Fergie is God. 31/08/2010 6:31pm
shame Cleverley gone on loan but he didnt say to Fergie "no, I want to stay and fight for a place" did he now, he accepted the loan move to gain more experience. Fergie knows what he is doing even if loaninng Tom out does look stupid, Tommy will come back in a year even stronger than before, ready to kick start his Manchester United career.

SAF should have stuck with his earlier decision to retain Cleverly at the club for this season as he could have added dimension to our OLD midfield.
