Rangers boss Walter Smith has guided The Gers to six honours since he returned to the club in 2007, after a long-spell with the Scottish Premier League Champions back in the 1990's. Smith has helped Rangers regain the SPL Title for the last two seasons, and hopes to bring his side further up the footballing ladder. United met Rangers twice in the 2003/2004 season in the Champions League, where The Red's won both legs. Sir Alex, a former striker at the Ibrox, employed Smith as his assistant manager in the same season for a short spell, before the 62-year-old native defender took over as Scotland's head-coach. This evening, Sir Alex spoke of his delight at drawing Rangers. "You can't complain about that, it's a good draw for us. You always look at the travelling side of it and the only one that's of any great distance is the trip to Turkey." "Walter Smith's already been on the phone, talking about tickets for Old Trafford!
