Stats: Pre-Glazer Transfers 03/08/2010
![]() With Manchester United fans from all corners of the globe calling for The Glazer Family to be banished from the club, we take a look at how The Reds' faired in the transfer market before Malcolm and his henchmen burdened Old Trafford with nearly £1 Billion of dirty debt... Statistics By: Keith 'Mancunian Red', 12:00am United Break British Transfer Record (in) Albert Quixall, September 1958 Sheffield Wednesday £45,000 Dennis Law, July 1962 Torino £115,000 Gordon McQueen, February 1978 Leeds United £495,000* Bryan Robson, October 1981 West Bromwich Albion £1.5 Million Gary Pallister, August 1989 Middlesbrough £2.3 Million Roy Keane, August 1993 Nottingham Forest £3.75 Million Andy Cole, Febuary 1995 From Newcastle United £6 million (plus Keith Gillespie) Seba Veron, July 2001 Lazio £28.1 Million Rio Ferdinand, July 2002 Leeds United £29.1 Million**
United British Record Sales (out) Charlie Roberts, October 1913 Oldham Athletic £1,500 (World Record) Johnny Morris, 1949 Derby County £24,000 Mark Hughes, June 1986 Barcelona £2.3 Million Cristiano Ronaldo, June 2009 Real Madrid £80 Million*** (World Record, current) * Gordon McQueen deal wasn’t as-expensive as Kevin Keegan’s from Liverpool to Hamburg in 1977, for £500,000 - but we selected it because he was bought by a non-English club. ** May not have been a record fee, as United could have agreed to finish the installments early by paying less. As a consequence it is not known if it broke the Veron transfer fee. *** Sale during Glazer ownership. Commentsgeorge 04/08/2010 12:12am

And you point is? Just so you know the debt in the club is not £1 billion that is just pure rubbish and stupid to say. The debt is now is just over £500 million HALF the amount you are reporting!

OUR DEBT IS NOW £1.1 BILLION, MAYBE LESS AFTER SOME REPAID. GLAZERS HAVE BROUGHT WITH THEM FOREIGN DEBT FROM OTHER BUSINESSES.

The stats can be used for various points. I put them up as a matter of interest as the days of United being the breaker of transfer records I expect is a thing of a past for many years to come.

the thing is, if ronaldo didn't want to leave us, we would still have him and i'm sure chico and smalling would still have been purchased.
