Paul Scholes: It's Nice Beating Chelsea 08/08/2010
![]() Paul Scholes played a blinder on Sunday evening, as he helped United beat Chelsea 3-1 in the Community Shield. The 35-year-old midfielder was involved in the opening goal, as his long-ball found Wayne Rooney who cued for Antonio Valencia to put The Reds ahead... "Both teams really wanted to win the game," Scholes told Sky Sports. "It was a hot day, which made it a bit difficult. But I think it was a good game and we’re happy with the win. It’s the Community Shield and it’s only a friendly more than anything, but there's a trophy at the end of it and we wanted to win it." "It’s always nice to beat Chelsea. They’re a quality team and they beat us three times last season which was disappointing, but we’re off on the right start and hopefully we can carry that on throughout the season." Scholes also said that the determination is in the squad to regain the Premier League and Champions League. "We weren’t that far off in the League and we went close in the Champions League. With a bit more determination this year, hopefully we can go one step further." "I just keep playing and training every day and try to stay fit," he added. "I’m still enjoying it, it’s great playing football, and playing for this club is brilliant. I’m playing with great players week in, week out and it’s something to look forward to..." @Blue Nose - so old and past it, yet your team's younger, fitter players couldn't keep up with him for 90 minutes a few months ago could they...
